12:19 if you don't like us 'stupid locals' pack your crap and go back to the hole you crawled out of! You show no compasion for anyone injured here including the kids who were injured! Us locals don't need anything you may or may not contribute to this community, including money!
First of I'm from here! I am not a stupid local but a smart one! Second I back off cars that fly around me not keep pace and run neck in neck. And I travel at safe speeds. People act crazy when they have to slow down because someone is turning in front of them. They swerve and stomp the gas to get that extra three seconds back. I see it everyday! Now if you know your stupid and just took offense then oh well!
Not as many people use the Friendship Road exit. Many from Delaware use 353. It wouldn't make sense for them to use Main Street Ext or Friendship Road.
There are several accidents a year at Old OC road and Sixty food road as well. The intersection at the Ford dealership is another one that is bad. Part of the reason is visibility the other is oil on the road. There have been a few times I went to take off only to have my tires spin a bit.
I don't think any of the 3 intersections in Pittsville actually go straight across. Most are at an angle and sometimes it can be tough to judge the speed car coming.
Cross at a different intersection if you can't there. Just be smarter drivers. Stop taking chances. Not that difficult. Ben driving for 30 years and haven't hit anyone yet.
Jim--please review your facts. Dr. Jose Alvarado ran into back of parked tractor trailer. Mr. Vincent was hit by young woman who failed to yield right of way.
Jim--please review your facts. Dr. Jose Alvarado hit a parked semi truck on Route 50. Mr. Sam Vincent was hit by a young woman who failed to yield right of way.
Cass, yes. I believe Dr. Alvarado fell asleep at the wheel.
To anyway saying the locals are stupid and need to learn how to drive, blah, blah, that was ignorant and cold.
Typically, when a particular part of roadway has a lot of accidents, something IS done because it indicates that something about that section invites driver error, impaired visibility, unsafe conditions, etc. This intersection has a bad angle and it does skew one's perception of distance.
Your response does nothing to solve the problem, but I am so pleased to make the acquaintance of someone so superior to everyone else. And I am not a local.
The comment wasn't made all locals are stupid. It was only refering to the "stupid locals who know better" ! Which is almost certain this time of year!
I think it's Rt. 610 that has center lines painted to suggest drivers adjust the angle of their vehicle for better visibility along with the LOOK AGAIN sign.
I'd be curious to know if this has helped, and think it would help here. I agree that the windshield post does obscure westbound traffic when crossing northbound. Please, not another light on Rt. 50, or if so, please don't time it to stop the grouped traffic like they all are in Salisbury. Lights should be timed so the grouped traffic gets a green light and only the stragglers get the red.
When is it going to stop....SHA when is it going to be enough.......
ReplyDeleteWhen the stupid locals are hit its their own fault. Carelessness is at fault here.

DeleteWow. Are you stupid? The person was referring to stupid locals. I think anyone who didn't vote for Joe is stupid! Should I crawl back under my hole?
DeleteRED LIGHT NEEDED!!! BUT IT WOULD SLOW DOWN THE FOLKS GOING TO OCEAN CITY IN THE SUMMER. CAN NOT HAVE THAT.
ReplyDeleteA traffic light won't fix stupidity.
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS NUTS! DO SOMETHING!!!!
ReplyDeletePeople just need to pay more attention... light is NOT needed there. Dont see accidents at Friendship rd... same kind of intersection

ReplyDeleteI will agree the intersection at 60 ft rd and old OC rd sucks... it is angled and hard for drivers on Old OC rd determine who turns 1st
ReplyDelete3rd accident at Rt 50 & 60 Foot road this week. What about the former States Attorney - Sam Vincent - he died there to. How many does it take?
ReplyDeleteIt is the angle. Ninety degree intersections have far fewer accidents in my experience.

ReplyDeleteHe ran into the back of a truck parked on side of road... not same thing.
2:35 PM - how hard is it to remember that the person on your right always has the right of way, they go first.
ReplyDeletePut a sign like RT610 that says "Look Twice"

Deleteit is the going North across rt 50 angle.... the windshield post obscures on coming vehicles.. especially motorcycles..... JUST FIX IT... STOP THE LIP
ReplyDeleteclose 60 foot road off from rt 50 and make them go around another way to get to old ocean city road to get there.
