GOP getting 'strong signal' that 'there's unrest at grassroots'
House Speaker John Boehner easily fended off an 11th-hour effort by conservatives to deny him another term, but longtime conservative activist Richard Viguerie says the Republican majorities in Congress need to take concrete steps to prove they are taking the nation down a more responsible path, or members can expect some bruising primaries in 2016.
Viguerie has been an active conservative for more than 50 years. He pioneered the use of direct mail in political campaigns. Viguerie is now chairman of ConservativeHQ.com and an author, most recently of “Takeover: The 100-Year War for the Soul of the GOP and How Conservatives Can Finally Win It.” He said the conservative insurgents failed on Tuesday but also delivered a clear message.
“I think this sends a strong signal to the leadership that there’s unrest at the grassroots,” said Viguerie, noting the next intraparty battle could unfold next year if GOP leaders don’t chart a solidly conservative course during the 114th Congress.
“The most important thing for conservatives to be focused on between now and election 2016 is the primaries,” he said. “I say, ‘It’s the primaries, stupid.’”

I think I've seen about 6 or 8 people that may run, that's is stupid.
ReplyDeleteWe need to have some direction , the democrats have one, Hillary.
The Democrats have a full blown teflon (never gets convicted) criminal liar in Hillary. Boehner is the snakes head of the current big money Republican Party. Not until some really strong conservative like a Rand Paul takes the reins of the senate, will things start to change for the better in our country. What the Republicans have offered up thus far for presidential consideration might just as well be a Democrap. The Tea Party needs to become a political entity all by itself without any strings to the Republican Party. I'd vote a straight ticket and not blink. There is NO FREE lunch! Fiscal accountability coupled with a Pro American stance in Washington, D.C. is the answer to our current crummy politicians. Screw the rest of the world, pro American jobs and pro American businesses, not imported garbage.
DeleteI agree, 6:25. I voted Independent for Gary Johnson last time because the R/D machine had no candidates. You see where that got us. Unfortunately, the last 3 days before an election people get swayed to vote either R/D lest the worst of two evils will get elected.
ReplyDeleteSo, there is free lunch after all for the R's and the D's...
get out of bed with the bible thumpers would be a good start to finding candidate who can win. Social issues are dragging us down, again.
ReplyDeleteIt's time for a good airing out,let the chips fall where they may.
