Millsboro, DE – Troopers have arrested a 44-year-old Rehoboth Beach man for his 3rd offense DUI after he struck a state police cruiser.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:15 a.m. this morning, Wednesday January 7, 2015 as Eric T. Biase, 44 of Rehoboth Beach was operating a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer southbound on DuPont Boulevard (US113) preparing to turn westbound on Millsboro Highway (SR24). As Biase began to turn right onto SR24, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a fully marked Delaware State Police 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe, being operated by a 39 year old trooper, that was stopped at the traffic light facing eastbound on SR24. After the impact, the Lancer came to a controlled stop on the shoulder of just west of the collision.
An odor of alcohol was detected coming from Biase and a DUI investigation ensued. While conducting a search of the Lancer prior to it being towed, 17.7 grams of marijuana was located in the center console along with a glass pipe. Biase was subsequently transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with 3rd Offense Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol (two previous convictions: 09/08/99, and 08/17/10), Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned and JP3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $5,000.00 secured bond.
Neither of the drivers, including a 29 year old female passenger in the Mitsubishi, were injured in the collision.
What is the legal # of DUI's one can get in Delaware and still keep driving? 11 is the most I've seen so far.

ReplyDeleteWho was the CO?
ReplyDeleteWeird name. Pretty big white guy with short hair that was salt and peppered. Turns out he is a corrections officer in the juvenile facility. Then he testified that most of his superiors have multiple convictions as well and keep their jobs. Just who the hell is running that facility? No wonder kids can't reform. Their guards are criminals as well.
ReplyDeleteHe asked to complete his sentence in a surrounding counties jail.

Oh here we go with this crap again. First, it was stated he was a revenue collector. Second, a part of each fine goes back to the municipality which issued the ticket in one form or another.
Regardless, why did you even waste the time to type that bs?
No it does not it goes to the state not the municipalities.
