Democrats Relying On Big Donors To Win

Democrats love to cast Republicans as the party of big money, beholden to the out-of-touch billionaires bankrolling their campaigns.

But new numbers tell a very different story — one in which Democrats are actually raising more big money than their adversaries.

Among the groups reporting the biggest political ad spending, the 15 top Democrat-aligned committees have outraised the 15 top Republican ones $453 million to $289 million in the 2014 cycle, according to a POLITICO analysis of the most recent Federal Election Commission reports, including those filed over the weekend — which cover through the end of last month.

The analysis shows the fundraising edge widening in August, when the Democratic groups pulled in more than twice as much as their GOP counterparts — $51 million to $21 million. That’s thanks to a spike in massive checks from increasingly energized labor unions and liberal billionaires like Tom Steyer and Fred Eychaner.

No, This Isn’t The iPhone 6 Line; It’s The Ray Rice Jersey Exchange Line

All eyes are on long lines today, and it’s not just the arrival of the iPhone 6/6 Plus in stores that have queues snaking along for what would seem like all eternity: The line to exchange Ray Rice jerseys for another Baltimore Ravens player is reportedly half a mile long.

The Baltimore Ravens announced last week that any fans with a Rice jersey could bring it to M&T Bank Stadium today and tomorrow and trade it in for another available player.

And according to this photo from FOX Baltimore, it seems there are plenty of people looking to rid themselves of the Rice name — about a half mile’s worth of people, in fact:

Procter & Gamble Removes Microbeads From Toothpastes, Still Insists They’re Safe

Microbeads are little plastic beads that appear in face washes, toothpastes, and other personal-care items. They aren’t so beautiful for America’s waterways, where the tiny beads could end up in the stomachs of the fish and fowl we like to gaze at and eat. Some lawmakers want the beads banned, but Procter & Gamble is the latest personal-care products company to dump them voluntarily.

One person who consumers can thank for this change is dental hygienist Trish Walraven in Phoenix, who started noticing little blue beads embedded in her patients’ gums. She wrote a widely-circulated blog post about the effects of microbeads, noting that microbeads embedded in your gums could be dangerous, and not a harmless whitening tool.

“They’ll trap bacteria in the gums which leads to gingivitis, and over time that infection moves from the gum into the bone that holds your teeth, and that becomes periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is scary,” a Phoenix-area dentist (not Walraven’s employer) told CNN.

Found! Missing Afghan Soldiers Caught Trying to Enter Canada

The three Afghanistan National Army officers who disappeared this weekend during a training exercise on Cape Cod have been found trying to cross the border into Canada near Niagara Falls, sources said Monday.

A top Massachusetts law enforcement officials tells NBC News that the three were caught at the famed Rainbow Bridge. It was unclear what the process will be to return them to Joint Base Cape Cod or if they will be returned somewhere else.

The three arrived 11 days ago with 200 soldiers and civilians from several countries for training at Camp Edwards on Joint Base Cape Cod. They were last seen Saturday at a shopping mall in Hyannis during a day off. Massachusetts State Police, with the help of the FBI and the Guard, had been trying to find them.

Why dentists are speaking out about the plastic beads in your toothpaste

The tiny plastic beads found in many popular toothpaste brands are approved by regulators, but dentists are becoming increasingly alarmed that the beads could cause more dental hygiene problems than they solve.

Polyethylene plastic beads became all the rage in personal care products -- including toothpastes, face washes and body scrubs -- a few years ago. And the Food and Drug Administration says they're safe.

But the beads do not disintegrate and are not biodegradable, and dentists are concerned that they're getting stuck in the tiny crevices between the teeth and gums.

"They’ll trap bacteria in the gums which leads to gingivitis, and over time that infection moves from the gum into the bone that holds your teeth, and that becomes periodontal disease," dentist Justin Phillip said, according to Phoenix ABC affiliate KNXV. "Periodontal disease is scary.”

Wait a minute. It's the greatest quote ever !

“My accomplishments as Secretary of State? Well, I'm glad you asked! My proudest accomplishment in which I take the most pride, mostly because of the opposition it faced early on, you know… the remnants of prior situations and mindsets that were too narrowly focused in a manner whereby they may have overlooked the bigger picture and we didn’t do that and I’m proud of that. Very proud. I would say that’s a major accomplishment.”

First Mosquito Pool Positive For Eastern Equine Encephalitis

Snow Hill, Md. – The Worcester County Health Department received notification from the State of Maryland that a mosquito pool in southern Worcester County tested positive for Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE). The pool sampled is in a remote, low lying area of the county, usually known to have standing water year-round. This is the first positive pool reported in Maryland for the year.

Arboviruses, such as the EEE virus, are most common during the summer and fall months. The viruses are transmitted by infected mosquitoes and spread to humans, birds, horses and other animals. Since mosquitoes can breed in as little as a quarter inch of water, the recent rain may have attracted more mosquitoes. Many factors impact when and where outbreaks occur, such as weather, numbers of mosquitoes that spread the virus, and human behavior.

The Worcester County Health Department provides the following tips to help prevent contact with mosquitoes and reduce risk of infection:

• Stay indoors at dawn and dusk.
• Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants when outdoors.
Use an EPA-registered insect repellent and follow package instructions.
Get rid of mosquito breeding sites.
Remove all discarded tires from property.
Dispose of water-holding containers.
Change the water in pet dishes and replace the water in bird baths weekly.
Drill holes in tire swings so water drains out.
Keep children’s wading pools empty and on their sides when they are not in use.

People with milder illnesses typically recover on their own, although symptoms may last for several weeks. In more severe cases, patients need to be hospitalized to receive supportive treatment. Signs and symptoms of Eastern Equine Encephalitis include fever, headache, irritability, restlessness, drowsiness, vomiting, diarrhea, cyanosis, convulsions, and coma. Anyone who has symptoms that cause concern should contact a health care provider.

Antidepressant can change intrinsic connectivity of brain

In a new study it was found that even a single dose of antidepressant can affect our brain and is enough to produce dramatic changes in the functionality of the human brain. Brain scans were taken before and after giving an acute dose of SSRI (serotonin reuptake inhibitor), and the drug showed its adverse effect within three hours.

“We were not expecting the SSRI to have such a prominent effect on such a short timescale or for the resulting signal to encompass the entire brain,” said Julia Sacher of the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Germany.

Lead researcher Julia Sacher conducted the study over 22 healthy people having no signs of depression. What they found was mind boggling. The drugs were believed to affect human brain over a long period of time. But the study revealed that drugs affect human brain instantly and changes the brain connectivity in important ways.

Participants were given a single dose of escitalopram. Researchers scanned their brains and took three-dimensional images of their brains and measured number of connections between structures called voxels. It was revealed that SSRI reduced the level of intrinsic connectivity in most part of brains but increased activity between cerebellum and thalamus was recorded.

“The hope that we have is that ultimately our work will help to guide better treatment decisions and tailor individualized therapy for patients suffering from depression,” Sacher said. This new study will help in clinical studies of patients suffering from depression.

The Zwick family were stunned to find out that this was the entrance to a Cold War-era fallout shelter buried right there, in their backyard. A ladder led them down into a bunker, which was a treasure trove, chock full of interesting items from the past.

Phones In Church

A man from Topeka , Kansas decided to write a book about churches around the country. He started by flying to San Francisco and started working east from there. Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes.

He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall and was intrigued with a sign, which read"Calls $10,000 a minute."

Seeking out the pastor he asked about the phone and the sign. The pastor answered that this golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to heaven and if he pays the price he can talk directly to
GOD.

The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way. As he continued to visit churches in Seattle , Phoenix , Salt Lake City , Denver , Oklahoma City, and around the United States , he found more phones, with the same sign, and the same answer from each pastor.

Finally, he arrived in Wicomico County,Maryland . Upon entering a little church called Trinity United Methodist Church-and behold - he saw the usual golden telephone. But THIS time, the sign read "Calls 35 cents."

Fascinated, he asked to talk to the pastor. "Sir, I have been in cities all across the country and in each church I have found this golden telephone and have been told it is a direct line to Heaven and that I could talk to GOD, but in the other churches the cost was $10,000 a minute. Your sign reads only 35 cents a call. Why?"

I love this part...............

The pastor, smiling benignly, replied, "Son, you're in Maryland now. This is God's Country. It's a local call."

The Nobel Peace Prize Winner Insists on Illegal War

Just because Congress wants to do something insane and illegal does not mean that the President must be complicit in breaking the law. But Barack Obama is all in with violating international law and engaging in a public act of war against Syria, a country that has not threatened us or attacked us.

Hiding behind the fig leaf of arming “moderate” Islamic rebels, who want to oust Bashir Assad, to fight “radical” Islamic rebels, who also want to get rid of Assad, Obama is actually committing America and her stature to ousting the Syrian leader. If there is such a thing as karma, we are totally screwed.

Rand Paul is one of the few politicians in Washington with the courage and integrity to stand against this madness:

How Federal "Equitable Sharing" Encourages Local Police and Prosecutors to Evade State Civil Forfeiture Law for Financial Gain
By Dick M. Carpenter II, Ph.D., Larry Salzman and Lisa Knepper
October 2011

This report examines a federal law enforcement practice known as “equitable sharing.” It enables—indeed, encourages—state and local police and prosecutors to circumvent the civil forfeiture laws of their states for financial gain.

Civil forfeiture is the government power to take property suspected of involvement in a crime. Unlike criminal forfeiture—used to take the ill-gotten gains of criminal activity after a criminal conviction—with civil forfeiture, police can take property without so much as charging the owner with any wrongdoing.

Owners caught up in civil forfeiture proceedings typically have few legal rights, while police and prosecutors enjoy all the advantages. Worse, most state and federal laws award the law enforcement agencies that take the property at least a cut, if not all, of the proceeds. This direct financial incentive and the limited safeguards for owners combine to encourage the taking of property.

Equitable sharing makes this bad situation worse. Through equitable sharing, police and prosecutors can take property from citizens under federal civil forfeiture law instead of their own state laws. From the perspective of law enforcement, this is a good deal: Federal law makes civil forfeiture both relatively easy and rewarding, with as much as 80 percent of proceeds returned to the seizing agency.

Thus, with equitable sharing, state and local law enforcement can take and profit from property they might not be able to under state law. If a state provides owners greater protections or bars law enforcement from directly benefiting from forfeitures, agencies can simply turn to federal law.

Recent research published in the Journal of Criminal Justice shows this is exactly what agencies do when faced with stricter and less generous state forfeiture laws—they turn to the feds and keep on pocketing forfeiture money.

And the problem is growing worse. Between 2000 and 2008, equitable sharing payments from the U.S. Department of Justice to state and local law enforcement doubled from about $200 million to $400 million. And data from two states, Massachusetts and California, indicate that these figures underestimate the true extent of equitable sharing nationwide.

Forfeiture reform is desperately needed at all levels. But for state reforms to have lasting effects, law enforcement must not be allowed to use equitable sharing to disregard state law. State and local law enforcement should have to follow state law.

Executive Branch Seizes Money from US Citizens

Times continue to be terrifyingly desperate for fiscally insolvent federal and state governments.  Following recent news that the U.S. government made savings & retirement accounts a prime target for confiscation, we now have this bombshell from the Washington Post: The executive branch of government has seized money from thousands of innocent U.S. citizens with absolutely no due process. Police departments around the country, at the command of the Justice Department & Homeland Security, have confiscated money from over 200,000 citizens – in some cases tens of thousands of dollars – even though many of them committed no crime!  Why?  Because our state & federal governments are broke, bankrupt and in desperate need of capital.  Just like this administration, law enforcement is shredding the Constitution and rule of law.  The Police State is now being expanded to unlawfully gain access to citizens' money.  Experts advise that you have only ONE choice if you want to protect your savings and retirement from the eventual overreach of government confiscations and seizures.
Government on the Brink of Disaster
The U.S. government and the Fed pumped trillions of dollars of YOUR money into the banks and stock market over the last several years, catapulting the U.S. debt to $28 trillion by 2018. But now, the U.S. government and the Fed are completely out of ammo, with the Fed no longer able to buy U.S. treasuries.  They desperately need money to maintain their own power, and taxes are not enough.  So government officials are doing everything they can to keep the Ponzi scheme going, such as seizing the public’s money through inflation, deficits, and outright confiscation.
The 4th Amendment under Siege
The 4th Amendment of the Constitution reads clearly:  “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated.”  But according to the shocking Washington Post report, the 4th Amendment is under siege.
Unknown to most citizens, police officers around the country received training and financial support from the departments of Homeland Security and Justice to engage in the practice of “highway interdiction” – which involves the police using minor infractions as an excuse to stop citizens, request warrantless searches, and seize cash.  In most cases, no crime has been committed and the police never make an arrest.
As part of highway interdiction, the enforcers within the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government – the police – have seized an enormous amount of money from innocent U.S. citizens through a Justice Department program known as “Equitable Sharing.”  Equitable sharing, the federal government’s largest asset forfeiture program, gives the executive branch of government the authority to confiscate your money without due process, even if you’ve committed no crime!
The Washington Post obtained a database from the Justice Department containing details about 212,000 seizures through the Equitable Sharing Program, likely totaling in the hundreds of millions of dollars or more. The following are just a few of the horrifying cases exposed by the Washington Post:
  • Police confiscated $32,000 from a New York man after stopping him because he had a cracked windshield
  • Police confiscated $17,550 from a Virginia man after stopping him because his car windows were tinted
  • Police confiscated $13,000 from a North Carolina man after stopping him for no offense whatsoever
  • Police confiscated $2,400 from a Nevada man after stopping him for no offense whatsoever

The US Ponzi Economy

Excerpted from John Hussman's Weekly Market Comment,

When the most persistent, most aggressive, and most sizeable actions of policymakers are those that discourage saving, promote debt-financed consumption, and encourage the diversion of scarce savings to yield-seeking financial speculation rather than productive investment, the backbone that supports a rising standard of living is broken.
...

Meanwhile, financial repression by the Federal Reserve has held interest rates at zero, discouraging savings while encouraging and enabling households to go more deeply into debt. Various forms of deficit-financed government assistance and unemployment compensation have also been used to make up the shortfall, allowing consumption, and by extension, corporate revenues and profits, to be sustained. As long-term economic prospects have deteriorated, the illusion of prosperity has been maintained through soaring indebtedness, coupled with yield-seeking speculation in risky assets that has repeatedly (albeit not always immediately) been followed by crashes throughout history

The U.S. Ponzi Economy is one where domestic workers are underemployed and consume beyond their means, household and government debt make up the shortfall, corporate profits expand to a record share of GDP as competitive pressures are reduced and cheap goods and labor are outsourced, corporations both accumulate the debt of other companies and issue new debt of their own, primarily to repurchase their own shares at escalating valuations, our trading partners (particularly China and Japan) become our largest creditors and accumulate trillions of dollars of claims that can effectively be traded for U.S. property and future output, Fed policy encourages the yield-seeking diversion of scarce savings toward speculation in risky securities, and as with every Ponzi scheme, everyone is happy as long as nobody seeks to be repaid.

White House Gets Wake-Up Call: Secret Report From Ex-Goldman Housing Maven Warns Of Coming Price Plunge

Former Goldman Sachs executive Joshua Pollard sent a sobering 18-page report to the White House on September 17th warning of a potential downturn in home prices that could put the country back into a recession before the ripples of the previous one settle.

According to Pollard, the former head of the Goldman’s housing research team, home price appreciation is outpacing income, and the United States is on the brink of a 15 percent decline in home prices over the next three years. Rising interest rates and values will cause already overvalued homes (Pollard says values are 12 percent higher than they should be) to be even further out of sync with reality and generate an unnatural surplus that will itself lead to a slowdown in investor purchases.

Flipped homes have declined 50 percent in the last year, and home flippers are losing money outright in New York City, San Francisco, and Las Vegas according to the report.

Roger Goodell take Note: There’s no pleasing Liberals out to destroy the NFL

No amount of football players wearing pink will ever placate Feminists calling for his head.

SECRET WEAPON TO TAKE OVER AMERICA REVEALED

No need for 'violent jihad' with this in their arsenal

Much has been reported about Latin Americans sneaking across the U.S. southern border, but there may be a greater danger looming in America’s heartland in the form of nearly 2 million Muslims who have made their way to the U.S. since 1992.

And, unlike the surge at the southern border, most of those coming from the Middle East have done so legally, with the full support of the U.S. federal government.

Scholars such as Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller and Daniel Pipes have warned for years of the Muslim Brotherhood’s doctrine of immigration, or “al-hijra,” as the long-term strategy to transform America into a different type of society – one that subjugates all other religions under Islam.

Now, another man has stepped up to sound the alarm. And his credentials make him hard to ignore.

Dr. Mark Christian, an obstetrician and former Egyptian Muslim with direct family ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, is talking a lot these days about “stealth jihad.” He says it’s the Brotherhood’s way of exploiting liberal immigration policies while working relentlessly through various Islamic front groups to pressure government, education and religious institutions to make concessions to Islam.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCHER: WIND INDUSTRY RIDDLED WITH 'ABSOLUTE CORRUPTION'

A Mexican ecologist has blown the whistle on the corruption, lies and incompetence of the wind industry - and on the massive environmental damage it causes in the name of saving the planet.

Patricia Mora, a research professor in coastal ecology and fisheries science at the National Institute of Technology in Mexico, has been studying the impact of wind turbines in the Tehuantepec Isthmus in southern Mexico, an environmentally sensitive region which has the highest concentration of wind farms in Latin America.

The turbines, she says in an interview with Truthout, have had a disastrous effect on local flora and fauna.

When a project is installed, the first step is to "dismantle" the area, a process through which all surrounding vegetation is eliminated. This means the destruction of plants and sessilities - organisms that do not have stems or supporting mechanisms - and the slow displacement over time of reptiles, mammals, birds, amphibians, insects, arachnids, fungi, etc. Generally we perceive the macro scale only, that is to say, the large animals, without considering the small and even microscopic organisms...

....After the construction is finalized, the indirect impact continues in the sense that ecosystems are altered and fragmented. As a result, there is a larger probability of their disappearance, due to changes in the climate and the use of soil.
