Heroin Dealer Sentenced to 20 Years

PRESS RELEASE

SALISBURY HEROIN DEALER SENTENCED TO TWENTY YEARS IN PRISON

On September 22, 2014, Arnold Darnall Miles, Sr., age 48, of Salisbury, Maryland, was convicted and sentenced on one count of possession with the intent to distribute heroin.  A Wicomico County Circuit Court judge sentenced Miles to the maximum sentence of 20 years in the Maryland Division of Corrections.

Miles had been pending charges related to a drug investigation conducted by members of the Maryland State Police Gang Enforcement Unit and members of the Salisbury Police Department’s Safe Streets Unit.  On March 19, 2014, Miles was arrested after a substantial amount of heroin was discovered during the course of a traffic stop.  While out on bond in that case, investigators learned that Miles had returned to selling heroin.  Based upon intelligence gathered during their investigation, investigators secured a search and seizure warrant for Miles’ Salisbury residence.  On May 3, 2014, investigators executed that search and seizure warrant upon Miles’ residence which resulted in the seizure of a large amount of heroin, multiple digital scales, a fake soda can with a hollow center used to conceal heroin, and $528 in U.S. currency.

On August 20, 2014, Miles was convicted of possession with the intent to distribute heroin in relation to the March 19, 2014 traffic stop.  A Wicomico County Circuit Court judge sentenced Miles to the maximum sentence of 20 years in the Maryland Division of Corrections.  On September 22, 2014, Miles appeared in court in relation to the May 3rd event and was sentenced to another 20 years of active incarceration consecutive to the sentence imposed in August.  Miles’ new conviction represents his seventh drug related conviction, his fifth drug related felony conviction, and his twelfth criminal conviction since 1986.

Wicomico County State’s Attorney Matthew A. Maciarello commended the Maryland State Police Gang Enforcement Unit and the Salisbury Police Department’s Safe Streets Unit for their work in the investigation and prosecution of this case.  Mr. Maciarello also thanked Assistant State’s Attorney James L. Britt who prosecuted Miles in both cases.

  1. Let me be early in line to thank LE and the Court for this.
I am usually quite outspoken in criticizing the above for what most of America has finally come to realize are unconstitutional oversteps and outright criminal acts however, I try equally as hard to be the first to acknowledge and thank them when it's warranted.
Again, LE and the Court, thank you.

  4. Oxy. legal. Heroin illegal.

One is over prescribed by doctors and that gets you hooked. The other is sold by dubious characters.

    Prohibition does not work.
