A SHORT POEM YOU WON'T FORGET

"A bump in the road" .... remember that calloused statement? I don't know the author of this poem... I just received it today.

Very thought provoking and poignant. I do recall, however, the President referring to the Benghazi incident as "a bump in the road." Today I heard an ex-Navy Seal being interviewed on Fox News regarding a book he has written about how to handle crisis situations in our lives. At the end of the interview he asked if he could make a comment on Benghazi and of course the anchor said yes. He then thanked Fox News for keeping the Benghazi story in the news, since other news organizations are not. He said the Seals who died deserve the public knowing the truth about the whole affair.

This poem was written by a MARINE CORPS Officer (ANON)

THE BATTLING BOYS OF BENGHAZI

We're the battling boys of Benghazi
No fame, no glory, no paparazzi.
Just a fiery death in a blazing hell
Defending our country we loved so well.

It wasn't our job, but we answered the call,
fought to the Consulate and scaled the wall.
We pulled twenty Countrymen from the jaws of fate
Led them to safety, and stood at the gate.

Just the two of us, and foes by the score,
But we stood fast to bar the door.
Three calls for reinforcement, but all were denied,
So we fought, and we fought, and we fought 'til we died.

We gave our all for our Uncle Sam,
But Barack Obama didn't give a damn.
Just two dead seals who carried the load?
No thanks to us.........we were just "Bumps In The Road".

So will this reach every American with a computer? Or do we act like the press and give a pass to the incompetent people who literally sat there in the White House and watched the Seal's execution on live streaming video and did absolutely nothing? The Obama Administration obviously won't be held accountable because we apparently accept Hillary Clinton's statement,

"What difference does it make?"

Rand Paul Suspects NSA Collects Credit Card Records

Does the National Security Agency collect the credit card statements of every American? Sen. Rand Paul thinks so.

"I think these records include your phone records, I think they include your text messages, your emails -- and, I think, in all likelihood, they're probably collecting your credit card statements as well," the Kentucky Republican said during a C-SPAN "Newsmakers" interview that aired Sunday. "I don't know all of that. Some of these allegations have been made in the media."

Uncertainty notwithstanding, Paul dwelled on the subject of NSA credit card record collection. "Think about your credit card records, and I tell people all the time, think about what people can know about you that might be on your Visa bill," he said, before listing information such as book purchases and psychiatric treatment. "I really think that's personal information, and unless you are specifically named on a warrant, nobody should be looking at that."

Dems Go After Inspector General Who Alerted Lawmakers To IRS Targeting Scandal

Two Democrat lawmakers have picked up the mantle from President Obama in deflecting from the possibility that the IRS unfairly targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny by going after the inspector general who first alerted lawmakers to the scandal.

The president drew heavy criticism from GOP lawmakers for saying there was “not even a smidgen of corruption” at the IRS during a Super Bowl pre-game interview with Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly, despite an ongoing FBI investigation.

But that investigation did not stop U.S. Reps. Gerry Connolly, D-Va., and Matt Cartwright, D-Penn., from filing a complaint “questioning the independence of Treasury Department inspector general J. Russell George,” The Washington Post reported.

POLICE INVESTIGATION INTO MURDER OF UMES STUDENT CONTINUES - $10,000 REWARD STILL OFFERED

(PRINCESS ANNE, MD) – Maryland State Police homicide investigators have expanded their search for the person or persons responsible for the murder of a university student far beyond the Somerset County campus where it occurred one year ago.

At about 9:00 p.m. on February 16, 2013, 21-year-old University of Maryland Eastern Shore student Edmond St. Clair was a passenger in a Honda traveling across campus on College Backbone Road. Not far from the Student Services Center, St. Clair and those he was traveling with encountered several people, possibly three or four, who were walking in the street.

Investigators believe some type of altercation occurred between St. Clair and these individuals. During the altercation, St. Clair was stabbed in the upper torso. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

State Police Homicide Unit investigators say as many as three persons may have been involved in the murder. They are described as tall, African American males, two of whom had lighter complexions. All three were wearing dark clothing. One may have been wearing some type of ski mask.

The State Police search for suspects in this murder has expanded far beyond the University of Maryland Eastern Shore campus. Due to the 2013 Homecoming Weekend activities occurring, there were hundreds of people on the UMES campus, many of whom were from the Baltimore/Washington D.C. regions. Not all of those on campus that weekend were university alumni. Several events were open to the public.

During a search of the area near the crime scene, State Police investigators recovered a folding knife. The knife was examined at the Maryland State Police Forensic Sciences Division Laboratory. Evidence was found on the knife that positively connected it to the murder of St. Clair.

Due to the unique appearance of the 3 ½” bladed Remington Sportsman’s Series folding knife with burnt orange and black camouflage handles, State Police investigators released a picture, thinking it might help prompt the memory of someone who may have seen the knife before. Anyone with information about the knife is still urged to contact police immediately.

Investigators would also like to identify three potential witnesses who were in the area at the time of the crime. They are believed to have been walking toward the student apartments shortly after 9:00 p.m. Two of the three are believed to have been carrying umbrellas. Two more potential witnesses may have been walking toward the scene shortly after the murder occurred.

Troopers continue to attempt to identify a light colored vehicle, possibly a Ford Taurus or Mercury Sable. This vehicle was seen in the area of the crime scene. Investigators would like to interview the driver and any passengers in this vehicle who may be potential witnesses to the crime.

Investigators would also like to identify the driver and any passengers in a gold vehicle. The gold vehicle was seen turning around a short time after the crime occurred and headed back toward the crime scene.

The investigation into the murder of Edmond St. Clair is active and ongoing. State Police investigators appreciate the assistance and support provided by the administration and the police department of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

State Police homicide investigators returned to the UMES campus during the fall of 2013 and just last week, re-distributed flyers seeking information about the murder. Investigators will be on campus throughout the 2014 Homecoming Week seeking anyone with information.

ClearChannel Outdoor assisted last year by providing a digital billboard on Rt. 13 asking for information. The company has generously agreed to renew its billboard notice seeking information about the murder and reminding viewers of the reward that is still offered.

Police investigators continue to need the help of persons both on and off campus who may have information about this crime. Persons with information are urged to contact the Maryland State Police at 410-651-3101, or Crime Solvers at 410-548-1776. Crime Solvers and UMES are offering rewards up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s).

Maryland State Police investigators are committed to the successful conclusion of this investigation. They will continue their efforts to identify those responsible for the murder of Edmond St. Clair.

RON GEORGE REVEALS NEW EVIDENCE FOR CALLING A SPECIAL COUNSEL INVESTIGATION INTO HEALTH EXCHANGE CONTRACTS

Notes history of Maximus contributions to DGA and O’Malley’s PAC

Annapolis, Md.
– Ron George, Republican candidate for governor, has renewed his January 21st call for a special counsel to investigate the MD Health Exchange Board, particularly focusing on the procurement process.[1] A $36.5 million contract for customer service call centers, the second most lucrative contract awarded by the Maryland Health Exchange Board, was awarded to Maximus, Inc. of Reston, VA in June 2013.[2]However, Maximus has a controversial history with state contracts and contributed over $325,000 in contributions to the DGA during Governor Martin O’Malley’s chairmanship.

Delegate George has released the following statement regarding this matter:

“The Maryland Health Exchange Board should never have been granted special procurement powers which resulted in the rewarding of political allies. The administration continued to favor a vendor who has a flawed history with Maryland and deep fundraising relationships to both Governor O’Malley and Lt. Governor Brown. We need a special counsel with the authority to investigate the procurement practices of the Health Exchange Board.

“It appears the administration was in favor of rewarding their political supporters despite serious legal concerns relating to this same vendor’s work with state foster children and a troubling history collecting child support payments in Baltimore. The problem with one-party control is the people in power get to make the rules even when they are inappropriate and can lead to waste, fraud and corruption. I demand a full and thorough investigation into the contracts approved by the Health Exchange Board and their adherence to transparent and impartial government.”

End Of The Line For The Welfare State?

The Congressional Budget Office did not exactly say Obamacare would cost the nation 2.5 million jobs.

But what it did say is vindication of what conservatives have preached since Barry Goldwater stood in the pulpit 50 years ago:

The more liberal the welfare state, the greater the disincentive to work and the more ruinous the impact upon a nation's work ethic.

The CBO has just given us a statistical measure of that truth.

The Obamacare subsidies, it said, will cause some to quit work, others to cut back on the hours they work, and others to hold off going to work, so as not to lose the benefits.

The cumulative impact of all these decisions will be equal to the loss of 2.5 million jobs by 2024. A devastating blow to an economy where the labor force participation is at a 30-year low.

These Before And After Photos Of Drug Users Are Absolutely Horrifying. And Gross.

There shocking mug shots collected by the sheriff’s office in Multnomah County, Oregon, are part of a anti-drug campaign that shows the disturbing truth to what heavy drug use does to a person. The campaign’s aim is to use these before and after photos of drug users’ faces in the hope that they grab teenager’s attentions by appealing to their vanity.

The most hard hitting feature of these photos is how quickly the drug addicts’s face gets damaged. Faces that were once normal, and even attractive, metamorphose over just a few years and sometimes months into skeletal, bruised and toothless wrecks.

EDDIE SAVAGE, JR. CONVICTED OF SECOND DEGREE MURDER BY WICOMICO COUNTY JURY

On February 12, 2014, after a three day jury trial, Eddie Savage, Jr., age 30, of Delmar, Maryland, was convicted of Second Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder (of a surviving victim), Second Degree Assault, several counts of Reckless Endangerment, Firearm Use in a Felony or Violent Crime, and Illegal Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person. Savage faces a maximum penalty of 100+ years of imprisonment for his crimes.

The charges against Savage arose out of the shooting and murder of Kenneth Sparks, age 48, that occurred on July 7, 2013 on Foskey Lane in Delmar, Maryland. During his crime, Savage fired a .38 caliber revolver during a domestic incident in the direction of several individuals including Sparks, Sparks’ family, and several small children. Savage was prohibited under Maryland law from possessing a handgun at the time that he murdered Kenneth Sparks because he previously committed a gun crime in another Maryland county.

Sentencing is expected to occur within the next thirty days.

Wicomico County State’s Attorney, Matthew A. Maciarello, commended the Wicomico County Bureau of Investigation (WBI), the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, and the Maryland State Police for their work in the investigation and prosecution of this case. Mr. Maciarello also thanked Life Crisis who provided excellent victim support during this trial. The State’s Attorney also expressed his appreciation for Senior Assistant State’s Attorney, Jamie L. Dykes, who prosecuted this case.

The Highway To Serfdom

It is amazing how many people still fall for the argument that if life is unfair the answer is to turn more money and power over to politicians. Since life has always been unfair for thousands of years and in countries around the world, where does that lead us?

I am so old that I can remember when sex was private. “Don’t ask, don’t tell” applied to everybody.

However fascinated the U.S. Supreme Court may be with the concept of “diversity,” every one of the nine justices has a degree from one of the eight Ivy League institutions, out of the thousands of institutions of higher learning in this country. How diverse is that?

Despite the rhetoric, the goals, or the intentions of the political Left, the world they seek to create is a world where decisions are taken out of the hands of ordinary citizens and transferred to third parties. Obamacare is the latest example of this trend and can now join the long list of the “compassionate” catastrophes of the Left.

Scary 1929 Market Chart Gains Traction

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (MarketWatch) — There are eerie parallels between the stock market’s recent behavior and how it behaved right before the 1929 crash.

That at least is the conclusion reached by a frightening chart that has been making the rounds on Wall Street. The chart superimposes the market’s recent performance on top of a plot of its gyrations in 1928 and 1929.

The picture isn’t pretty. And it’s not as easy as you might think to wriggle out from underneath the bearish significance of this chart.

81% Of People Receiving Public Housing Benefits Vote Democratic – And That’s Just The Tip Of The Handout Iceberg

Perhaps I spend too much time lurking around left-leaning blogs, but there are many myths taken as fact without any additional analysis.

One of the most prominent? The notion that red states take the most aid from the government.

Mitt Romney sparked outrage during the 2012 election for his comments about the “47 percent” of Americans who are dependent on government. Romney was actually quoting the percentage of Americans who pay no federal income tax, not the percentage of people who receive government aid, which is a slightly larger 49 percent.

More Than $100 Million Spent With Nothing To Show For It

Maryland has become known as a test kitchen for liberal policies. After the passage of Obamacare in DC, Maryland spent more than $100 million to voluntarily set up and market its own exchange. Led by Lt. Governor Anthony Brown, Democrats in Annapolis patted themselves on the back for leading the way. Yet, when these health care exchange web sites went live last fall, Maryland's site made the Federal rollout look like a success. Hard to believe, isn't it?

Now Maryland is scrambling to find a way to clean up this mess and help the many Marylanders who lost their existing health care plan and could not sign up for a new plan on the State's exchange web site.

I am leading the call for a full independent investigation to uncover how these millions of tax dollars were spent and who is responsible for the mess. Only through an independent investigation with the power to subpoena will we be able to learn the truth. The Democrats are avoiding investigating this and getting the answers we as citizens deserve until this summer, conveniently timed after the Primary Election.

As always, if I can ever be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact me in Annapolis or my District office.

Sincerely,
Senator David Brinkley

Trump: Democrat Jobs Narrative 'Total Deception'

The narrative of Democrats that the predicted loss of jobs due to Obamacare was a good thing because it offered workers more options is a "total deception," Donald Trump said Monday.

"It's total deception. And, it's very bad. And, it's certainly not the American dream. It's a different kind of American dream," the real-estate and entertainment billionaire told "Fox & Friends."

A report by the Congressional Budget Office last week predicted up to 2.5 million jobs could be lost by 2017 due to the effects of Obamacare. After first expressing shock, Democrats quickly called the report good news, saying it gave workers more flexibility, rather than tying people to jobs in order to keep health benefits.

Resume:
Lewes, DE- The Delaware State Police arrested a Lewes man yesterday morning for a 5thoffense DUI.

The incident occurred around 11:18 a.m. yesterday as a general bulletin was broadcast about a blue Ford Ranger driving southbound on Coastal Highway (SR1) all over the roadway. A trooper on patrol was able to locate the vehicle in the area of SR1 and Minos Conaway Road and attempted to perform a traffic stop. The pick-up truck continued southbound and at one point was traveling at a high rate of speed in a left turn lane where it almost collided with another trooper sitting stationary in the cross-over with the emergency lights activated, waiting to assist with the traffic stop. The truck continued southbound across the Nassau Bridge and finally came to a stop on SR1 just north of five points.

Upon contacting the operator, who was later determined to be Donald C. Kilgore Jr., an odor of alcohol was detected and a DUI investigation ensued. Kilgore was subsequently taken into custody and transported back to Troop 7 where an inquiry into his driving record revealed four previous DUI convictions (12/09/97, 03/30/98, 09/21/98, and 10/15/07); this arrest would make #5.

Donald Kilgore was charged with the above listed offenses and arraigned a JP2. He was incarcerated at SCI on default of $10,405.00 cash bond.

Troopers Urge Driving Safety During Forecasted Winter Weather

Dover - Weather forecasts currently indicate a major winter storm that will impact the region starting tonight into Thursday. Heavy snowfall including a wintry mix, are threats with this storm. This type of weather pattern can create treacherous conditions for motorists who are traveling along Delaware roadways.

Troopers statewide continue to plan and prepare for the forecasted winter storm, as we will be ready and available to patrol, assist disabled vehicles, and manage roadway incidents and hazards for the duration of the event. Most calls for service received by Troopers during winter storms are for vehicle crashes, disabled vehicles, and abandoned vehicles which cause a major problem for DelDOT snow removal equipment and for Troopers responding to emergency situations. Troopers strongly encourage motorists to postpone and avoid unnecessary travel.

Troopers urge all motorists who must travel to use extreme caution as weather conditions may change rapidly over the course of the event. Motorists should be prepared for snow covered and slippery roads, along with strong winds and limited visibilities which make driving conditions difficult. Use caution while driving when approaching intersections and off ramps, especially bridges and overpasses. Remember to reduce speed and increase following distance between vehicles. Allow ample time to reach your destination, allow extra space between vehicles, and keep vehicle headlights on to increase visibility.

This would be an excellent time to check your vehicle ensuring it is in good working order for the expected conditions. Fill up the fuel tank in advance. Check the windshield wipers, windshield wiper fluid, tire tread, battery life, etc. If you should have vehicle problems, be sure to stay with your vehicle, as freezing temperatures can be life-threatening. Be sure to have an emergency kit in the vehicle consisting of a blanket, bottled water, snack, cell phone charger, flashlight, etc.

Dependency, Not Poverty

There is no material poverty in the U.S. Here are a few facts about people whom the Census Bureau labels as poor.

Dr. Robert Rector and Rachel Sheffield, in their study "Understanding Poverty in the United States: Surprising Facts About America's Poor" (http://tinyurl.com/448flj8), report that 80 percent of poor households have air conditioning; nearly three-quarters have a car or truck, and 31 percent have two or more. Two-thirds have cable or satellite TV. Half have one or more computers. Forty-two percent own their homes. Poor Americans have more living space than the typical non-poor person in Sweden, France or the U.K. What we have in our nation are dependency and poverty of the spirit, with people making unwise choices and leading pathological lives aided and abetted by the welfare state.

The Census Bureau pegs the poverty rate among blacks at 35 percent and among whites at 13 percent. The illegitimacy rate among blacks is 72 percent, and among whites it's 30 percent. A statistic that one doesn't hear much about is that the poverty rate among black married families has been in the single digits for more than two decades, currently at 8 percent. For married white families, it's 5 percent. Now the politically incorrect questions: Whose fault is it to have children without the benefit of marriage and risk a life of dependency? Do people have free will, or are they governed by instincts?

Homeland Security To Purchase 141,000 Rounds Of Sniper Ammo

‘Zombie Hunter’ bullets designed for deadly long range capability

The Department of Homeland Security is buying more bullets with a solicitation for over 141,00 rounds of sniper ammunition.

According to a solicitation posted on FedBizOpps, the federal agency is looking to procure 141,160 rounds of Hornady .308 Winchester 168gr A-MAX TAP ammunition.

Such ammunition is sometimes retailed as “Zombie Max,” a marketing gimmick alluding to its power.

“What makes the .308 ammunition so deadly is the long range capability of the round,” notes James Smith. “The ability is called ballistic coefficient, or the efficiency of a projectile in overcoming air resistance as it travels to its target. According to Speer Reloading Manual Number 13, the .308 165 grain has the highest coefficient of any hunting rifle.”

The latest purchase further illustrates the fallacy of the DHS’ excuse that it is buying bullets in bulk in order to save money.

The federal agency will pay around $1.20 for each round, when a lower grain round could be acquired for around a quarter of the price.

Unions Pressing For Judges Friendly To Labor

The Alliance for Justice, a coalition of more than 100 liberal groups, is lobbying the White House to “broaden the bench” with more judicial nominees who represent what it calls “professional diversity” — judges who are more likely to be aligned with the coalition’s liberal agenda.

“We face a federal bench that has a striking lack of diversity,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts Democrat, said at an alliance event in Washington last week. She said Mr. Obama’s nominees have been “largely in line” with the professional backgrounds of previous presidents’ judicial candidates.

‘Avalanche’ Of Regulations Still To Come Under Obamacare

28 paperwork rules will cost $1.4 billion a year to comply with

The Obama administration has yet to finalize 28 additional regulations under Obamacare that could lead to an “avalanche” of regulatory burden on the economy, according to an analysis by the American Action Forum.

A report released Monday by Sam Batkins, director of regulatory policy at American Action Forum, details the billions in cost and millions in paperwork hours that will result from the pending regulations, including the individual mandate, which has yet to be finalized.

“In total, these 28 paperwork burdens total more than 45.7 million burden hours,” the report said. “For perspective, it would take more than 22,800 employees working full-time to complete the new paperwork (assuming 2,000 employee hours annually).”

“Using an average wage rate, these regulations will cost $1.4 billion annually,” it said.

The Costs Of The Environmentalism Cult

California is in the third year of a drought, but the problem isn’t a lack of water. The snowfall in the Sierra provides enough to help us ride out the years of drought. All we need to do is store it. But California hasn’t built a new dam in 35 years. Worse than that, every year we dump 1.6 million acre-feet of water––about enough to serve 3.2 million families for a year––into the Pacific Ocean in order to protect an allegedly “endangered” 3-inch bait-fish called the Delta smelt. California’s $45 billion agricultural industry, a global breadbasket that produces nearly half of U.S.-grown fruits, nuts and vegetables, is set to take a huge hit, with hundreds of thousands of acres left fallow and the San Joaquin Valley region’s already sky-high 17% unemployment destined to increase.

Meanwhile President Obama continues to dither on approving the Keystone XL Pipeline from Canada. The latest in a string of environmental impact studies since 2008 has determined that the pipeline poses no threat to the environment. Indeed, it will lessen spills and pollution by transporting oil by pipeline rather than by more risky trains. Nor will abandoning the pipeline reduce carbon emissions, as the 830,000 barrels of oil will simply go someplace else, most likely China, the world’s leader in carbon emissions. What will happen is up to 40 thousand American jobs will not be created, and dependence on imported oil from hostile countries like Venezuela will not be reduced. Meanwhile because the pipeline crosses our border with Canada, Secretary of State John Kerry, a long-time environmentalist scold who as a Senator in 2012 voted against an amendment approving the pipeline, will probably end up making the decision.

Local Governments Oppose Even Minor Speed Camera Reforms

Speed camera providers and county lobbyists block photo enforcement accuracy reform in Maryland state Senate.

The photo enforcement industry has been reeling from admissions of widespread bribery and evidence of widespread speed camera inaccuracy. In Baltimore, Maryland, 58 percent of citationsissued by one camera went to drivers who were not speeding, but lobbyists for speed camera companies and local governments have scrambled to ensure lawmakers do not attempt any major corrective action.

On Tuesday, the Maryland state Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee considered a bill that would provide minor reforms. It would require cities and counties to have a local official responsible for voiding clearly erroneous speed camera tickets. It would also require "calibration" of camera systems on a quarterly, not annual, basis. It narrows the definition of a school zone to mean only areas where kindergarten through twelfth grade students walk to school and clarifies that a "speed camera operator" includes any company that "administers or processes citations."

Maryland Health Care Officials Weigh Switching To Federal Exchange

Leaders of the state’s troubled health exchange are considering firing the exchange’s prime contractor and switching to the federal health exchange.

Maryland’s top health care officials gave the options during a newly-formed legislative oversight committee’s first meeting on Monday. The committee was also told the state likely won’t reach its goal of enrolling 260,000 Marylanders in health care plans by the end of open enrollment March 31.

While the state will continue with its current system through the end of open enrollment, it is weighing other possibilities after that, said Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, secretary of Maryland’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

Sharfstein said the state is considering adopting technology used by other states, joining a consortium of states or simply making major fixes to its current system. But it’s also considering partnering with the federal marketplace, a move that could send Marylanders to Healthcare.gov.

Where Do N.J. Criminals Get Their Guns? Mostly, Not Here

Gun violence in New Jersey's cities sent the state's homicide rate to a seven-year high in 2013. Meanwhile, Gov. Chris Christie signed more than a dozen gun control measures into law, driven not only by violence at home but also by a larger national debate over firearms.

Yet like many places in the northeast, most of the guns involved in crimes here in Jersey come from out of state. So exactly where do New Jersey criminals get their weapons?

The interactive map below is based on data released last year by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which successfully traced 2,112 of the 3,595 "crime guns" recovered in New Jersey in 2012 (2013 data isn't available yet). The ATF data offers the best available window into the hidden flow of firearms between states. Here are some highlights from NJ.com's analysis:

HIGH SCHOOL TEXTBOOK REWRITES SECOND AMENDMENT–LITERALLY

The authors of United States History: Preparing for the Advanced Placement Examination have taken it upon themselves to change the Constitution of the United States. The high school textbook contains a summary of each Amendment that alters the initial intent in which they were created.

The textbook notes the Second Amendment as, "The people have a right to keep and bear arms in a state militia."

The actual Second Amendment reads, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

TV Propaganda And The Mind Control Culture

Few subjects present an indisputable window into modern society than the electronic version of reality that is dispensed through television broadcasts. This technology does not require interactive skills or critical thinking acumen. Just watch and fall into a daydream trance. TV is the stealth killer that penetrates 114.7 million American households. According to Nielsen, the 2012 Universe Estimate (UE), reflects a reduction in the estimated percent of U.S. homes with a television set (TV penetration), which declined to 96.7 percent from 98.9 percent. Should this turn down suggest promise or is it merely a result of internet substitution?

With the proliferation of cable channels and 24 hour programming, the landscape of TV addiction vastly impacts perception and dramatically excludes normal interpersonal relations. Melissa Melton cites the following in her article, TV: Your Mind. Controlled.

“According to last year’s Nielsen report, the average American over the age of two years old watches more than 34 hours of television per week, plus at least three more hours of taped programming. The report also noted that the amount of time we spend watching television increases as we get older.”

Anti-Gun Activist Arrested For Carrying A Gun

One rule for us, for you another.....

Last week, on Thursday afternoon, police in Buffalo New York received a pair of anonymous tips. Apparently, there was a man with a gun roaming the halls of Harvey Austin Elementary School. The school was placed on lockdown as a veritable army of police officers - including an armored vehicle and a helicopter - arrived on the scene. When the dust settled, a gun control activist named Dwayne Ferguson was in custody.

Yes, you read that right. He's a staunch gun control advocate.

More than a dozen cop cars, the SWAT team, K9 units and the Erie County Sheriff’s Air One helicopter swarmed Harvey Austin Elementary School in Buffalo on Thursday after reports of a man with a gun near the school or on the grounds. Dwayne Ferguson, head of the Buffalo chapter of MAD DADS, was taken into custody. He will be arraigned Friday.

An anonymous call came into 911 around 4:15 p.m. that a man with a gun was seen inside the Sycamore Street school. The building was placed in lockdown and around 60 students who were in the building for after school programs were herded into the cafeteria as officers from every district in the city went room-to-room in twos and threes looking for a possible gunman. A portion of Sycamore Street and Walden Avenue were closed and parents were kept from the scene until a preliminary sweep of the school was complete.

WaPo Praises The Joy Of Being "Untethered" And "Unleashed" From A Job, The "Freedom" Of Unemployment

Now that the full court press to refute the findings of the CBO report which, as we reported, confirmed what was largely known - that as a result of Obamacare, the strapped US economy will have even fewer workers as millions will fall back on welfare state entitlements which make hard work obsolete - has failed, it is time for the propaganda to take a different track: one where not having a job, and in fact losing it due to Obamacare, is hailed as an act of nobility. Sure enough, here comes one of the administration's favorites, the Bezos Times, with "They quit their jobs, thanks to health-care law" which does largely as its name suggests: highlights just how "enabling" and "liberating" Obamacare is for one's life, once a person is no longer burdened by something as trivial as a job.

No, we aren't kidding:

Count Polly Lower among those who quit their jobs because of the health-care law.

It happened in September, when her boss abruptly changed her job description. She went from doing payroll, which she liked, to working on her boss’s schedule, which she loathed. At another time, she might have had to grit her teeth and accept the new position because she needed the health benefits.

But with the health-care law soon to take effect, she simply resigned — and hasn’t looked back.

“It was wonderful. It was very freeing,” said Lower, 56, of Bourbon, Ind., who is now babysitting her 5-year-old granddaughter full time. With the help of federal subsidies that kicked in Jan. 1, she is paying less than $500 a month for health coverage for herself and her husband.

Florida Bill Would Set Hard Prison Time For Welfare Fraudsters

Florida welfare fraudsters beware. A bipartisan legislative effort designed to clobber public assistance abuse may soon send welfare perps to prison for a long time.

Ripping off Medicaid, food stamps or taxpayer-funded cash assistance programs for more than $100,000 could mean 30 years in prison, the sentencing equivalent of seriously hurting a law officer.

Wrongfully receiving or seeking public assistance in the amount of $20,000 could carry a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.

Obama Democrats’ Troubling View On Work

Among its many stamps, the Postal Service has a series called “Made in America, Building a Nation.” The strip of “forever” stamps is a collection of iconic photographs of 20th-century industry featuring men and women toiling on railroads, skyscrapers and factory floors.

A celebration of work and workers, the series quotes Helen Keller saying, “The world is moved along, not only by the mighty shoves of its heroes, but also by the aggregate of the tiny pushes of each honest worker.”

My, oh, my, how times have changed. America now has a government that views work as a trap and celebrates those who escape it.

Sheriff Mike Lewis And Home Defense

In response to many questions from both business clients and class participants, I spoke with Sheriff Mike Lewis recently regarding his position on home defense.

During our conversation, Sheriff Lewis made it clear to me that he is a staunch 2nd Amendment supporter and would not back any legislation infringing upon or limiting one's Second Amendment Right to Bear Arms. Further, he has fought for his constituents' 2nd Amendment rights in Annapolis.
I carried the following away from the Sheriffs conversation with me. The following is paraphrased:

Sheriff Lewis believes in 2nd Amendment rights.

As a homeowner presented with a deadly force situation, such as an armed home invasion, a homeowner is not required to retreat from or within his home.

Deadly force is an option when confronted with deadly force, perceived deadly force, or serious bodily injury within the home. You must be in fear for your life or a perceived threat of a deadly threat or serious bodily injury (I.e. Rape, serious assault, perceived serious assault).

Rep. Andy Harris’ Office Hosts Tax Filing Readiness Events In His Congressional District

The outreach events were held in Princess Anne, MD, and Elkton, MD

Salisbury, M.D.
-- Last Saturday, February 8, the Office of Representative Andy Harris held two free IRS outreach events for constituents on the lower and upper Eastern Shore. Both events allowed constituents to ask questions as they prepare to file their 2013 tax returns.

The morning event was held at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, and the afternoon event was held at the Elkton Central Branch Library in Elkton. At the morning event, IRS officials fielded questions on topics such as tax filing preparation for the elderly and identity theft. They also highlighted various tax changes.

At the afternoon event, IRS officials responded to questions about the Earned Income Tax Credit and identity fraud, and provided information about available tax-aid resources, specifically free tax-return services provided by AARP and the IRS’ Free File program.

For anyone who was unable to attend, please find (below) links to the resources that were distributed at the events.

Virginia, Maryland Declare States Of Emergency

With potentially a foot of snow looming for the Washington region, Maryland and Virginia have declared states of emergency.

Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) and Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D) both issued declarations Tuesday, citing the need to properly respond to the winter storm.

These declarations let the states activate their respective national guards and prepare for potential power outages and snarled roads. Both governors also issued statements asking residents to prepare for these outages and other storm-related headaches.

Welcome To Black History Month 2014

Black History Month in Delaware began with all the usual suspects presenting all the usual indictments of racism.

If there was any mention of black mob violence or black on white crime, it was only in passing. Or only to represent the perpetrators as the real victims.

Teenagers, for example, who were kicked out of high school for violence and truancy, were said to be victims of uncaring counselors who threw them into a life of crime by suggesting they go to night school. There was a lot of that: More than 60 percent of black students in Wilmington, Delaware drop out of high school.

As for the real victims, black and white, of the school violence and behavior that disrupted their learning, there was not a word.

Nor did anyone mention how two of the panel members voted for a local city council resolution a few weeks before that declared Wilmington’s black criminals were the real victims: They were suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder caused by slavery.
