STEM Saturday
Parkside High School
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Saturday classes will be offered throughout the 2014-15 school year for students in grades 4/5 and 6/7/8. The next STEM Saturday will be held Jan. 10, with students in grades 4-5 exploring “It’s a Starry, Starry Night: Explore the Stars in Our Universe” and middle schoolers working on “Up, Up and Away! Hot Air Balloons.” All STEM Saturdays will take place from 10 a.m.-noon.
STEM Saturdays are free for Wicomico County students in grades 4 through 8. Anyone interested in attending a STEM Saturday event must pre-register, and early registration is recommended as the courses fill up early. Feb. 7: “Science Behind Winning: Logic or Luck, Games and Probability” for elementary, “Scratch: Creating Interactive Stories and Games” for middle school. At Salisbury Middle School.
March 7: “Bubble-ology: The Mystery and Science of the Bubble” for elementary, “Coastal Creatures: Creatures that Inhabit Our Coastline” for middle school. At Salisbury Middle School.
April 4: “You Live Where? Macro Invertebrates of Schumaker Pond” for elementary, “Structural Engineering: You Can Build What?” for middle school. At Ward Museum.
