For the past 27 years, the CHEER Nutrition Program has sponsored Operation Christmas CHEER. Since the first year, the project has grown by leaps and bounds. This past Christmas day, a team of more than 80 volunteers distributed more than 260 meals to home-bound senior citizens throughout Sussex County.

Based at the Georgetown CHEER Center in the Thurman Adams State Service Center, volunteers start arriving around 10 a.m. Christmas morning. The cooks have been busy for more than five hours by that point.
