A man who had just bought something at a suburban New Orleans shopping mall on Christmas Eve was shot to death at close range and a suspect was in custody, police said.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office has said that the victim was James Vaughn, 24, and the suspect is 25-year-old Gary M. Francois.
Vaughn purchased a present for his mother right before the deadly shooting, his grandmother told WDSU.
It happened about 4:21 p.m. Wednesday, less than two hours before the Oakwood Center mall in Gretna was scheduled to close for the holiday, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said.

The man was murdered by an idiot.
ReplyDeleteThe media doesn't need to sensationalize the murder by telling us he had purchased a present for his mom.
However , I'm glad that they did report this, being a black on black murder.
The next thing will be what he purchased , maybe a new pistol.
Media gone wild.
I'd be willing to bet, both victim and suspect have similar backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteCriminal records dating back to the juvenile system.
No meaningful employment.
No positive father in their lives.
Welfare.
Multiple half siblings.
Another case of a victim becoming a victim, because of the high risk life style they lead.
Another thing to bet- no protests will break out over this one.
Black Lives Do NOT Matter, unless a racial motive can be attached to the death. That's a damn shame.
It doesn't matter whether the victim receives "justice." Justice won't stop them from rotting in a grave.
If anyone wants people to believe that Black Lives Matter-then start acting like it and not pick and choose what deaths matter.
