Newark - The Delaware State Police have arrested a Bear area daycare provider after she left two children unattended in a vehicle while she shopped.
The incident began on Friday, December 19, 2014, at approximately 12:20 p.m. after troopers were told to respond to the parking lot of the Pencader Plaza Shopping Center located at 100 Pencader Plaza Drive, Newark, for the report of two children that had been left unattended in a vehicle. Prior to their arrival, however, troopers were advised that the vehicle had been towed to All Hooked Up Towing, located at 80 Aleph Drive, Newark.
Upon their arrival at the tow company, troopers made contact with a 32 year old male employee who advised them that he had just repossessed the vehicle, a 2007 Dodge Aspen, from the Pencader Plaza Shopping Center parking lot. The employee advised that prior to towing the vehicle, he did not notice anyone in the car, which had dark tinted windows and several large boxes blocking the view to its rear. Upon reaching the tow yard he began to unhook the vehicle at which time the employee heard children's voices coming from inside of the car. It was then that the employee located a five year old female and a 1 year old female in the third row seat of the car. He then contacted 9-1-1.
Troopers then responded to the Pencader Plaza where they made contact with the children's daycare provider, Tonya F. Robinson, 40, of Bear, who had also contacted 9-1-1 after discovering her vehicle missing. Robinson was then taken into custody and transported to Troop 6, Prices Corner, where she was charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She was then arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $4000.00 unsecured bail.
The children, who were not injured and in good health, were turned over to a second daycare provider who transported them back to the residential daycare and turned them over to their parents.

Not exactly sure where it said in my statement that I was a soft hearted liberal moron. In fact I am red blooded republican. Maybe you just glanced at my statement where I said that I hope the tow truck driver was ALSO charged. They both need to rot in jail for being stupid. If I was a soft hearted liberal moron, I would have already started a relief fund for her and the driver. So please go blow smoke somewhere else.
@2:24 why should the tow truck driver be charged? It clearly stated there ws DARK TINTED windows, and NUMEROUS LARGE BOXES BLOCKING THE VIEW! He could not see that some idiot had left children unattended in the vehicle!
ReplyDeleteThe tow truck driver didn't do anything wrong much less anything anywhere near child endangerment. He was there to repossess the car which he had the legal right to do. The car had tinted windows and boxes blocking the view from the rear window, so he couldn't see inside and as soon as he heard children's voices he acted and called 911.
ReplyDeleteHe did nothing criminal which involves intent like for instance if he were stealing the car, so there is absolutely nothing he could be charged with.
@4:00m idiot or not, I would think protocol would be not to KIDNAP children. But hey, that's me. If your for it, more power to you.
ReplyDelete4:34 again it goes to intent. "Protocol" had nothing to do with the legal system. Read up on intent and how it relates to the law. His intent was not to commit a crime much less kidnap those children. You have to know you are doing something illegal or what you are doing may result in something illegal happening-like excessive speeding for instance, getting into an accident and killing someone and you can be charged with manslaughter. NO crime was committed by the tow truck driver. Get it through you head-okay.
ReplyDeleteRepo-ing a car is get in, get out so there's no confrontation and no shooting. Researching contents can be done off site back at the storage yard, as was done, and upon discovery, 911 was called.
ReplyDeleteSo, show us where a crime was committed by a tow truck repossession driver?
This brings up the subject of tinted windows. I often see vehicle with windows tinted so dark that you cannot see in the car. I wonder if this is legal and if not why companies are installing the tinted materials. If you cannot control the people using the tinted windows then fine the companies with the materials in shop. Too much slips by the way with darkened windows to hid the evidence.
ReplyDeleteDid we not read the article where someone broke up a fight and transported the kid to safety and was charged with kidnapping? The tow truck drivers ignorance to the situation endangered the children just as well. Imagine if a bad wreck occurred with them hooked up.
