Officially, it isn't a recall, just a technical service bulletin.
Whatever General Motors is calling the announcement, dealers have been advised to replace the keys on 2014 and 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra models, as well as several other large vehicles. That development may herald a wider shift in the auto industry to cars that no longer rely on keys.
Some owners have complained that when they shift gears, they can knock the key out of position—bringing to mind this year's recall of GM vehicles with defective ignition switches.

all this electronic crap on cars and truck is junk, they should go back to more manual type equipment have you ever saw a video of runaway diesel engines, that wouldn't happen with manual engine stops. newer crap is just more expensive to maintain anyway.
ReplyDeleteI still haven't gotten used to not having a gas cap.7:43-Nowhere is the electronic issue more evident than on airplanes. They hardly have any electronics in the operational systems whatsoever. This is to eliminate potential mechanical problems while in flight. If your car breaks down you pull off the road.If a plane breaks down you pull into a mountain.I totally agree with your comment.Cars could eliminate almost all electronics, except of course for the radio, lights and climate control.
ReplyDeleteShould we bring back crank starters too?
ReplyDeleteMercedes benz has been using keyless go for many years without many issues. Its reliable, makes the car almost impossible to steal. Its proven technology that domestic car companies have failed to use. The german car lines have always been ahead.....sure they cost more money but are a very superior product.....Benz now has a car with no light bulbs....all led.....no bulbs to burn out....new chevy, ford, and dodge all junk.....
ReplyDelete9:50 I am sorry to inform you that Mercedes is a bigger piece of junk than are domestic automobiles. I have had two Mercedes's and both of them had problem after problem.. I would never own another one.. Give me a domestic vehicle with a key any day!!!
