Fatal Accident Probe Finds Trooper’s Speeding Not ‘A Contributing Factor’

BERLIN – Nov. 8 marked the one-year anniversary of 16-year-old Tymeir Dennis’ death.

Time hasn’t yet eased the pain for his family.

“I look around my house and I can just see him here,” said Roxie Dennis, Tymeir’s great aunt. “I just can’t believe it.”

More than a year after the teenager was struck and killed by a Maryland State Trooper while crossing Route 113 in Berlin, Dennis says her family still has questions about what happened that night.

Berlin resident Gabe Purnell says the community as a whole is still struggling with the event and the lengthy Maryland State Police investigation that followed.

  1. Problem here is perception.....

The investigation was not performed by an independent outside entity.

  2. Bet it would have been a factor had it been a commoner such as myself.

  3. Since when is SPEEDING not a contributing factor to a traffic accident?
Since it involves a mercenary for the State.
Another cop gets away with murder.

  4. I feel sorry for the family, but the mother was there when the accident occurred and was the reason the boys were crossing the highway.

I also find it interesting that this is published the day before Thanksgiving and two days after the Ferguson melee.

  5. "..was caused by pedestrian error."
" “If you’re crossing, you have to yield to oncoming traffic,”.."

Isn't this just the opposite of what that 'duck cop' was ticketing all of those drivers for the other day?

  7. I remember this. In the summer this is a daily drive for me.

I can't not understand how this happened. It is relatively flat and the curves are far away.

That being said, if you were crossing the 4 lane highway in the nigh time, against the light would it not be your fault for not obeying the lights?

I am sorry for the families loss, but jeez, where the hell is the common sense?

This is no different than a jaywalker in OC getting hit by a car and killed and the family sues.. Stupid. Sometimes, the fault lies with the victim.

For the father to even suggest, and HE DID, that it was some sort of crime, because his kid was black is ludicrous and shows exactly where this is headed. Oh and the community is not at peace with this?!? Seriously, I dodge kids at the light all summer long. Sorry, I don't see the community struggling with this at all. He is.
