Scott Walker won re-election with vow to expand school choice
(DAILY SIGNAL) On the heels of Republican victories last week, attempts to replace Common Core with homegrown standards are resurfacing in states across the nation.
Most prominently, elected officials in Wisconsin and Ohio are spearheading efforts to reclaim more control of education.
On Nov. 5, the day after the midterm elections, an Ohio House committee passed a bill to repeal the Common Core standards.
As a political marker only, in the time that the northern states (such as Ohio) remove themselves from previous mandates is quite clearly an indicator of the change process. Not with- standing the current climate, this is a well developed run at truly reprehensible issues that are being repealed in more than several states at this time - frankly, common core is crumbling at an alarming rate. I do note that several Sothern states have noted this and moved beyond it however it seems that the majority in the north controls this. Ohio is a significant state in many regards and their bold move indicates a shift in their policy - they were waiting for this, and it is good for us all that they have done so

It's time for Maryland to follow, and we need our newly elected folks to listen to the people.
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing wrong with teaching common core math.. It just should not be taught in MATH class because it is not mathematics..
