Disproportionate Minority Contact Reduction
Alternatives to Incarceration – The Wicomico County Department of Corrections is
provided grant support for alternatives to incarceration and/or fines for non-violent
offenders and meets many community organizations’ labor needs.
Disproportionate Minority Contact Reduction- The Wicomico County Board of
Educations’ Disproportionate Minority Contact Reduction Initiative targets youth in
the juvenile justice system on probation and at-risk of out-of-home placement. The
initiative supports a DMC steering committee and collaboration with the
Department of Juvenile Services to identify decision points that adversely impact
minorities, assist with the development of a uniform data collection system, and
implement strategies and policies regarding DMC for African American and Hispanic
populations.
