OCEAN CITY – A divided City Council voted this week to approve additional advertising opportunities for local and national businesses atop Boardwalk trams.
According to Public Works Director Hal Adkins, the town installed in mid-August roof top, back lit, advertising panels on one of the 16 tram coaches. The installation consisted of two side panels and one rear panel advertising McDonalds. The installation was done in an effort to test the market and gather a response.
The cost to install the two side and one rear panel per tram was $7,500, which would come to a total cost of $112,500 to install the advertising on all 16 trams.

OC has become a haven for DC nogs.
ReplyDeleteBuses have ad's plastered all over why not trams.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. Salisbury should place ads on the police cars and fire trucks.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww poor little OC isn't making $$$ dont make me laugh.
ReplyDeleteOC is still charging for parking this weekend in city parking lots. OC has stopped the boardwalk train until next May. Why would they not downsize the number of train employees and still offer service for the tourtists who are on the boardwalk? Keep charging and provide less?
ReplyDelete3:26, I have to agree. Especially since the Mayor started putting out commercials on the western shore promoting this being the best time for Marylander's to visit Ocean City.
ReplyDeleteLet me say this as well. While things have quieted down, (especially during the week) I drove from Downtown all the way to 199th street this week in the evening. I must have been stopped at at least 20 RED lights with NO cars needing to come across Coastal Highway.
OFF SEASON...everything is a little off. :)
ReplyDeleteI wish they would not put advertising on the train. It will block viewing and distract from the nice ride. I hate this change. I go to OC less and less and this is the last enjoyable evening entertainment down the drain. Oh well, I'm old and I have money...I can go somewhere else and leave the broke college kids to have at it.
ReplyDeleteI don't go to OC anymore because I can't afford the rediculous parking fees. They should make it more welcoming to people especially those of us on fixed incomes
