Ms Mitchell, who is telling Wicomico County voters that she’s an “accountant”, is the second Democrat candidate for the Wicomico County Council to pose as an accomplished professional – Ron Pagano being the first. However, she tells them nothing about her actual experience as a bean counter, which we understand is slim to none.
If Ms. Mitchell is really trained in that field and has practiced as an accountant, she should divulge the details, including where and when she was certified as a CPA and her experience.
We expect that she will remain silent, so we ask those in the know to speak up by sending comments. The voters deserve to have the whole truth before early voting begins next week.
At least Pagano was a practicing attorney for several years.
Salisbury residents may be stupid enough to elect her but I think Wicomico County residents as a whole are certainly much more intelligent than to elect someone like her.
Just because you may have a degree in accounting doesn't automatically make you an accountant. An accountant is someone who is actively engaged in the practice of financial accounting. It's not necessary to be an accountant and be a CPA because many accounting functions do not require licensing, e.g. cost accountant/financial accountant work internally in a corporation. Even in public accounting, not all functions require CPA license. e.g. an enrolled agent can prepare a client's tax return, he/she just can not represent the client in front of IRS, but CPA can.
From her site-"Laura earned her M.B.A. with undergraduate degrees in Accounting and Business Administration, and has 23 years of governmental and private industry finance experience, including a stint as the Finance Director for a small municipality in Delaware."
Interesting that she puts no names to her supposed 23 year work history.

If she wins there will just be one less Bar stool open at Backstreet and another expense account entry.. I bet that is what she sees Accounting in Government as being.. maybe she interned at the Board of Education

Laura and Josh could win and that will give you 3 liberal Democrats on the Council. John Hall is married to a Democrat and he is a Known RINO. That's the majority and now you have a Democrat controlled Counry Council. Wicomico County is DOOMED!
No listing for a Laura Mitchell on the MD Dept of Labor, Licensing and Regulation which lists those currently holding a CPA license. Could be that if she is currently licensed she uses another name (maiden) but as far as Laura Mitchell, no.

Does she really drink on bar stools at the Back Street?
There needs to be an over investigation, I agree with 11:47 since she ran for city council we knew something was wrong. When there is a picture on mention of her in the Metropolitan she will be under Laura Mitchell, or will use her husband's name, get to the bottom of both of them PLEASE!
Ask the "accountant" where the money went in the Wicomico Democratic Club when she was the treasurer and her husband the president. It was all hushed up by the local Dems.
The Daily Litter Box Liner has recently Laura Mitchell and Josh Hastings over the more qualified John Cannon and Larry Dodd. The Daily times even said she was an accountant so they are lying for her. Wicomico County is circling the drain right now and this County will be in the sewer if those two get elect.
All Republicans, good Democrats and Independents need to get out and vote for John Cannon and Larry Dodd over those two liberal tree huggers. This County will never recover if the liberal majority take over the County Council.

I watched the County Council Forum at the Civic Center last night and I saw Josh Hastings express his love for Norman Conway.
