As reported by this blog (but not the Daily Times or other mainstream media) last week an e-mail was sent by the “Public Information Officer” of Wicomico County, acting in that capacity and using her County internet access, to rally the troops for a press conference to be held by Anthony Brown, together with his local campaign manager (Mr. Pollitt) and Jim Ireton for the stated purpose of attacking Brown’s opponent, Larry Hogan. In her e-mail the PIO said that she had been “asked to forward” the information about the meeting.
Even if Pollitt – who is her superior as well as Brown’s campaign manager – did not direct her to forward the information, this is a clear violation of the County’s ethics law, and the ethics commission should promptly sanction all who are complicit.
Because we have been told that the ethics commissios acts only when someone complains, were are publishing the names of the members and, if known, their telephone numbers –

Maybe, if enough people contact the members demanding prompt action, they will issue sanctions before the election.
This is small potatoes as to what goes on in most elections. The whole staff at a local "helping" agency dropped everything to do cold calling for a democratic candidate running for congress in years past while sitting at their government funded desks. I'm not saying it is right....it is just accepted and elected officials turn a blind eye.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it is a violation of the charter, but what are the sanctions?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the information of who to contact. Sometimes this information is hard to find if not down right impossible because most people don't want you to file complaints on issues regard government employees or depts.
