I've been in Wal-Mart exactly once in my life (about 10 years ago -- I was picking up something for a relative who specifically asked that I go there),and I thought it looked like a freak show.
I don't know when overweight became a handicap, but in Salisbury it seems to be a real handicap, this is pretty typical of what you see there most of the time.
The thing that really sucks is you see people on crutches having to struggle to get through the store - due to the fact that FAT people think it is their right!
Fat people are often handicapped. Generally this is because their weight has caused their joints to wear out prematurely and they weigh too much to get replacement surgery.
I haven't been in a Walmart in atleast 10 years and I don't plan on ever going in one ever again unless things keep up the way they are going and all small independent businesses are forced to close. I remember when the Berlin Walmart converted to a Super store and how excited everyone was. It was as if the Mona Lisa was coming to the area. "Have you been to the Walmart yet" was the big question of the time. The whole thing just floored me. On another note I listened to the McDermott/Mathias debate and now I'm floored over the excitement Jim Mathias has for a Chinese company buying the Court Plaza. A Chinese company for heaven's sake is NOT something to ever get excited over. This means that immediately the majority of any money made will not be put back into our local economy and the plans for redevelopment consists of nothing but more low paying jobs in the hospitality industry. It's sad that this would excite any politician.
WOW!
