Dear Editor:
Recently we've been seeing lots of political advertising on television and in the newspapers touting all the wonderful things politicians have been able to bring home to the shore.
It appears said politicians think their constituents believe money does actually “grow on trees”.
The money that pays for all of these wonderful things is OUR money – the government has none of its own – it only has what it takes from the citizens through taxes and fees. And most of these wonderful things are also financed by bonds, which is a debt we are laying on our grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The interest on the bonds also greatly increases the actual costs of these wonderful things.
There are also “trade-offs” involved, i.e., politician “A” agrees to support a wonderful thing in politician “B's” district in exchange for politician “B's” support for a wonderful thing in politician “A's” district. I believe if the citizens of the Lower Shore understood some of these “trade-offs” they would be more than a little concerned.
I encourage my fellow citizens to please check on the voting records of the incumbents running for office.
Sincerely,
Carol Frazier
Dear Frazier,
ReplyDeleteIn my 72 years I've known that politics are somewhat of a scam. However , in the past 5 years I've never seen lies like this from the party in Congress .
I'm referring to democrats.
Socialism will not work and it never has.
I think it is very similar to jail " work release".
You go out and work for nothing but you will be fed and provided with sleeping arrangements . I don't believe that the younger generations have figured this out. It has caused many issues in this country. The democrats are responsible for the downfall of America.
There is also a movement going on with racial unrest . The Black race that are receiving entitlements are not satisfied with what they have , so they are taking what they want at every opportunity . Ferguson is a good example , The Trayvon issue is another , mostly caused by Al Sharpton.
Anyway , Im glad you posted the letter.I really think we are way too late with deficit the way it is.
Too late is probably right 9:34,but my father would tell me there is always a place to start.Where the heck to start becomes more and more difficult to determine (as the issues that you mentioned get worse and worse)but somewhere in there is the ideal starting point. That's why I too am glad this letter was posted.
ReplyDeleteIf the readers want to identify said POSERS, they are quick to have their pictures taken with the PORK!
ReplyDeleteI looked at ads on SBYNews because I know Joe stays on top of who should be elected, but good lord he only has two ads. I are more than those two running for an office. Jeez
ReplyDelete11:11, Because I, (unlike others) do not extort money from candidates.
ReplyDeleteIf a candidate comes to us and wants to run an ad, so be it. I/We do not confront candidates.
Unlike others, we are not in this for the money.

I know for a fact that the Fat Blubber Blogger has harassed local candidates for several months saying he will run an add for $100 per month. That would be a waste of money.
Wow - that was uncalled for.
DeleteMay I join CarolF in saying that was uncalled for. This is a place to agree or disagree but if you expect to change anyone's opinion with ugly names it makes you look stupid so why should anyone care what you think.
