Police Officer Suspended, Charged With Second-Degree Assault

PRINCE GEORGES COUNTY, Md. —A Prince George's police officer has been suspended from his job after he was charged with second-degree assault following an incident Sunday.

According to the Prince George's County Police Department website blog, probationary officer Themis Speis was involved in a domestic situation while he was off duty.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at a hospital.

Speis has been with the department for about 18 months. He is assigned to the Bureau of Patrol, District VI.

  2. If he's convicted they will have to terminate. He can no longer possess a firearm. Let's wait till trial since anyone can allege anything about anyone. Ppl go to the commissioners all the time to charge others when they've done nothing wrong.

  5. He should be fired immediately - why wait for a jury?

    His name should be stricken from all records.

    His picture should be photo-shopped out of all group photos of cops.

    His uniform should be destroyed.
