NFL was sent a copy of Ray Rice video FIVE MONTHS ago and confirmed it arrived, claims law enforcement official

In a potentially devastating blow for Roger Goodell, a law enforcement official claims he sent a video of Ray Rice punching his then-fiancee to an NFL executive five months ago - completely contradicting the commissioners claim that no one at the NFL had seen it before Monday.

The person played The Associated Press a 12-second voicemail received from from an NFL office number on April 9 confirming the video arrived. A female voice expresses thanks for the video and says: 'You're right. It's terrible.'

And in a sign the NFL is descending into full damage limitation mode, Goodell announced former FBI director Robert S. Mueller III will conduct a probe into how the league pursued and handled evidence as it investigated claims against Rice.

  2. They wanted to protect him, as they did Ray Lewis back in the day when he shot and killed 2 people in Atlanta. Their efforts here just didn't work this time! If they were to keep him...its as if saying it doesn't matter who you are or what you represent just punch your girlfriend/wife out and all is well...Domestic Violence should not be rewarded...Rice got what he gave..a blow! good riddance to him! And by the way 8:28 AM nice language!

  3. Why waste your time commenting about this story. The punch happens. Rice is gone. The abused women married the abuser. The women cried out about domestic violence. The media had a field day with this story. White lies were told about who knew what and when. But, when it is all said and done, you people will go right back to watching all of the NFL barbaric games. And, some fool will blame this all on Obama. What gives? :-)

  4. Yet there is a football player that hung dogs by their hind legs and set them on fire. He is allowed to play.
