National Public Radio did something very useful recently. It investigated who got what in the U.S. government’s program to give military equipment to local police departments.
This initial list raised more questions than it answered. The main question is this: “Why?
79,288 assault rifles
205 grenade launchers
11,959 bayonets
3,972 combat knives
$124 million worth of night-vision equipment, including night-vision sniper scopes
479 bomb detonator robots
50 airplanes, including 27 cargo transport airplanes
422 helicopters
More than $3.6 million worth of camouflage gear and other “deception equipment”
First, why does the Army still buy bayonets? Bayonets have not been used in combat since about 1848.

ReplyDeleteMarines are still trained to use bayonets and our primary infantry weapons come equipped to accommodate them.
ReplyDeleteWe've also used them in combat since 1848...WWII comes to mind as a photographed / documented example. They have probably been used more recently - but I haven't seen any pictures or heard any stories...

The Marines still use bayonets. They were used extensively though out WWII, the Korean war, and even Vietnam. Check your facts.
ReplyDeleteI have one on by ak... It may come in handy, if the subject makes it that close.
ReplyDeleteTo hell with bayonets. No one will get that close.
ReplyDeleteIts the GRENADE LAUNCHERS for civilian cops that should raise eyebrows......and alarms.
Still don't think they are planning for large scale civil unrest - and suppression?
Better be ready.
Or be a victim.
Or keep cheering, right up to the point they put a few rounds into your center body mass. Or, now, maybe put a couple of grenades (!!) through your living room window.
It's hard to call it "conspiracy theory" or "tin-foil hat" stuff when THEY tell you what they have and what they are planning to do.
That's called "willful ignorance".
Civil War Reenactment.
ReplyDeleteOnly one reason for bayonets....for when they run out of ammo. The gun is still a weapon with or without ammo, when there is a bayonet. When the local police have expended all their ammo on the civilians, they can still try to stab us before we overrun them. Our government sure seems like it is gearing up for a war on the populace.
ReplyDeleteand they will be punished the second they use them
ReplyDeleteThe local police and or sheriff's office could care less about you and your uprising theories. Most of them, esp the sheriff's office, are people from this community who hunt just like we do.
ReplyDeletelike the gunny above said the other posters were never marines and don't know about gooks crawling through the wire at night or the exloits of marines in the pacific during ww2 SEMPER FI AND GOD BLESS AMERICA AND BY THE WAY I AM NOT AFRAID TO PUBLISH MY NAME LIKE THE ANONYMOUS WUSSIES ON HERE A VIETNAM MARINE CORPS VET DON SKIDMORE AN AMERICAN RIGHT OR WRONG

punished by whom?
5:00 PM: That's just the point, you moron. The local police and sheriff's office are no longer one of us. Being hunters doesn't mean a damn thing. That's just a stupid defense of the indefensible. Its obvious whose side you will be on. Yes indeed, I know your kind. When our local police forces are being militarized with automatic weapons, military gear, armored vests and vehicles, grenade launchers, (and bayonets!) and being trained to fight an enemy, I ask you this: Just who is the enemy? Don't bother to answer, the question is rhetorical, and the answer is obvious.
