According to the Washington Post, a looter in Ferguson, Missouri, expressed pride and admiration for looters and said their actions are justified.
"I'm proud of us. We deserve this, and this is what's supposed to happen when there's injustice in your community," said DeAndre Smith, whom the Washington Post says was "fresh from looting the QuikTrip."
One officer told the Post that widespread looting has spawned "looting tourism" wherein thieves as far away as Illinois and Texas are traveling to Ferguson to steal.
"It's like looting tourism," said the officer. "It's like they are spending their gas money to come down here and steal."

ReplyDeleteThis is what the entitlements have brought to their mindset.
ReplyDeleteAnd you wonder why there are few if any grocery, restaurant, or retail stores in black neighborhoods? Did you know some businesses like delivery businesses won't deliver in high crime neighborhoods. I live in between Hebron and Salisbury. If you tell them you live in the west side of Salisbury, some businesses won't deliver. If you say you live near Hebron, they deliver.
ReplyDeleteOnce store owners start shooting looters they will stop. That's the only way this mentality will change.

ReplyDeleteRight. Did you hear the story about the privately owned Tattoo Parlor and Gun Shop? The owners and employees stood ground with arms visible. They had no problems.
However, our Country worships BIG BUSINESS. We love to shop with businesses who have 100s of stores etc. Like Wawa, Royal Farms, etc.
The Quick Trip is a huge company. The owners are unknown and certainly do not live near Ferguson.
Perhaps that is the underlying problem to this situation? Big Business. Everyone feels OK with stealing from Big Business.
Back in the 1950s Americans did not steal like they do now. Most of the businesses were owned by our neighbors. We went to church with them. We elected them to Town Council. Etc. We knew who they were, and we respected their property.
They act the same outside as in jail. As a corrections officer I see how these people act when they don't get their ways. They have a criminal mind set period. And the bad thing is they thrive on it. They brag on it. They live for it.
