As Martin O’Malley dips his ankles into the deep end of national politics – most recently with his full-throated plea earlier this month against the deportation of immigrant children — I recalled the first time I saw him on a national stage.
I had a pretty good view: I was standing right next to him.
The two of us were being paraded as rising stars by the Democratic Leadership Council at the 2000 Democratic National Convention -- and even featured together on the cover of The New Democrat magazine.

ReplyDeleteIf he can sell the idea, that every perceived problem can be solved with new taxes and a larger government, to the American people, like he did to Marylander's that elected him to two terms, then he has a chance. If Americans don't want to be even more overtaxed than they already are, then they will not support him on a national ticket, once they see what his record on taxes in Maryland was. It will be his ball and chain that will drag him down. Now as a vice presidential choice, apparently the standard is not as high. Just think Biden. Not good enough to ever be president, but can stand by and hope someone dies.
