Look at all those fire calls the Salisbury Fire Department has been staying busy with.
ReplyDeleteOops My BAD!!! They are all medical calls.
I am so glad we have paid fire men sitting around doing nothing just in case.
Did anyone mention we have a $1 Million fire boat sitting around doing nothing. Ironically the paid firemen sitting around doing nothing 24 hours don't know how to operate it. Ironically it's been in service nearly 2 years and it is still waiting for its first fire call. Ironically 2 nearby Free Grant Money fire boats sank last weekend because the firemen had no clue how to operate the million dollar boats.
Oh did I say the paid firemen were sitting around doing nothing all day? My BAD!! They get to take naps during the day and sleep at night while getting paid. Guess what? They deserve those jobs. Well at least they say so.
Nice uneducated response 2:36. If you actually read through the list of calls you'll see 1 automatic fire alarm, 2 different natural cover fires, and 1 citizen assist. Those are all calls that require a response by a peice of fire apparatus.
DeleteNext, no they are not allowed to take naps during the day. Yes they are allowed to sleep at night as long as they are not on a call. Every single profession that works 24hr shifts get to sleep at some point or another during the shift.
Instead if being so ignorantly critical maybe you should actually ask to spend 12hrs with one of the crews. That way instead of making assinine assumptions you could actually make informed responses.
It really gets irritating to see people who have never run a single 911 call make so many comments, you have no clue what it takes to run any kind of call, medical or fire. You are also of the assumption that fire calls only involve fire another dumb assumption.
I constantly see posts on here putting down these men and women who were doing this job yet none of you have any clue the amount of stress and anguish this job can put on people and their families. These firefighter paramedics and firefighters EMTs have put countless hours into their training and schooling in order to be there for the community during the citizens greatest time of need yet you give them the respect you have no respect for them whatsoever how would you feel if one day they weren't there for you if one day you needed them and they didn't show up.
No I don't work for the Salisbury fire department, I do however work as a firefighter paramedic in the local area.
I will say that every single fire and EMS worker and why Comica County is getting tired of seeing these negative comments constantly. The fire and EMS community is small and therefore we consider each other to be family. We are the only ones that know with each other of been through what the other person is seen what they've had to deal with. So to let you know with all your negative comments to the Salisbury fire department and its members or it's paid career staff you're not only putting down them you're putting down every single one of us think about that.
2:36. Concerned citizen, I envite you to come ride with us. You can come see first hand what it is we do. I truly hope you take me up on this offer and come by either station and spend some time. Maybe seeing first hand, you could get a better idea, instead of just guessing as to what we do. Thank you and good day!
ReplyDeleteMust be a SFD FARMIN'. Can't spell (invite not envite), can't fight fire, can't justify his/ her job.
Delete4:23Yes I made a mistake. As soon as I sent it I realized it. Never made a mistake? Bet you will still not come and ride. Because once you do you will see that there is more done than just answering calls. Please come or better yet why not fill out a volunteer application? Bet you will not do either.

Fire calls don't involve fire? Hmm. I am not a lawyer, but I do know that if they don't involve fire then they can't be fire calls. Speaking of Dumb!
Since you don't work at the Salisbury Fire Department and you don't pay city taxes then you don't have a dog in this fight. Go embarrass yourself somewhere else.
You only embarrassed your self with this post. You did so by commenting on something that you know nothing about. Why don't you go to the Wicomico County 911 dispatching center and ask for a list of all calls that were issued a fire response incident number. You will notice that 50-60% don't involve fire. ANY time a peice if fire apparatus responds to a 911 call, that call is issued a fire response incident number. MVC, rescue, lines down, odor investigation, automatic alarm, medical assist, tree across the roadway, citizen assist... The list goes on and on. Please educated yourself on a subject before you make yourself out to be the fool.
DeleteNot very bright? Every paramedic has been to college. Has to pass a national standard test to become an NREMT-P, then pass the test to become a Maryland paramedic. They are uneducated? Please, will you try it?
ReplyDeleteI like to see half off these people pass a college level anatomy & physiology class, pharmacology, or cardiology class. I've got over 140 college credits, I've taken all the typical gen ed courses as well as some CDC, and business & economics courses (not to mention I'm a paramedic) and no class even compared to A&P I/II.
DeleteMost if these people have no clue how broad our scope of practice is. They don't realize that we are fully trained to read an EKG, carry 40 drugs that just about all have different doses for pediatrics/ adults/ elderly. They have no clue that it took us just as long to become a paramedic as it does to become a RN. Not to mention pretty much all of us have additional fire training as well.
