The expenses at the top you noted are by the County Executive or those he authorized to spend.

Buying his coffee & doughnuts should be a personal expense and not on the public dime!

  9. I guarantee you not a dime of that went to any actual teachers....

  10. On another post about this part of the County personnel manual was posted clearly showing that these type of purchases are out of line. Why is nothing being done do those in the Executive's office to reprimand them???? If this was done by a "normal county employee" they would have been fired by now. They should be required to pay back all the "out of line" purchases and fired!!

As for the Board of Ed, they are totally out of control !!! Look at the cost of some of the purchases.
And yet the County raises "OUR" taxes just so they can continue with their extravagance!!
All those involved need to be prosecuted as this is all against policy. "For the kids" what an excuse! I pay my taxes, don't have any children in school so I guess my taxes go for eating out!

I'm fed up with government seems like anymore it's more corrupt that the crooks on the streets!!

I worked at many departments at the BOE - including using purchasing cards. Ruth Malone is the director of curriculum and professional development. Her card has paid for many meals for administration and various faculty during professional development activities. During administrative seminars breakfast and lunch have been provided.

The round number items are probably used for gift cards for incentives for teachers. The ones used by the bookkeepers at schools were probably used for student incentives.

I'm not saying all of the purchases were right - I saw my share of waste in many departments and not just from purchase cards - but I do know that it is not always the person listed who is getting their own meals paid for - especially with the bookkeepers.

Some are from students going to meals for Spanish classes (La Tolteca) where the bookkeeper pays for it with the purchase card but the funds come from money collected from students' field trip money.

  12. Are the holders of these cards able to receive cash back also, like many other cards that ask you if you would like some cash during the transaction?

  13. Meanwhile, kids who behave and work hard every day get no perks or gift cards. Parents who support the schools and help out at every activity get no gift cards. They shouldn't. Neither should those who do nothing.

Please explain the gift cards as incentives for teachers. I've taught 35 years in this county, have all exemplary evaluations and have never heard of such a thing.

    BOE Food Purchases

    July 14, 2014 at 9:33 AM

Oh Boy!! Dr. Freddy funneled $13,000 back to the general fund for much needed resources for the students. Spending $165,000 to make $13,000 is real intelligent thinking of the most liberal Democrats on earth.

  18. The appointed board of ed members did not participate in the free food purchasing at all.
