Election Experience

During our recent primary election an event happened that I would say is, "Worthy of Comment". A Conservative Republican, Me, and a Liberal Democrat, former county council member Tony Sarbanes, were found to both agree that "Wicomico County can not continue to go down the path that it is going". Yes folks, at the Delmarva Evangelistic Church polling station, Mr. Sarbanes approached an MJ Caldwell supporter and made that statement. When that statement was passed on to me I thought thank goodness a light has finally gone on in Mr. Sarbanes head that made him realize the Tax and Spend policies of his current Democratic Party have devastated the working people of Wicomico County. Yes, now he might realize that all of the tax increases and new taxes like a "Rain Tax", (whoever would have believed that one) plus one of the Democrats newest proposed taxes, the VMT Tax, yes, they now want to tax how many miles that you drive each year, have harmed the working class people.

Mr. Sarbanes can now probably see how one of his own party's leader, Democrat County Executive Rick Pollitt , using these tax and spend policies, continues to drag Wicomico County down. (now if anyone doesn't think that's not true I can get into a whole series of articles to prove that one but I believe most working people already know this). I bet he also doesn't appreciate Mr. Pollitt raising his property taxes five years in a row. After all, as a property owner I'm sure he has benefited by his savings from the REVENUE CAP. But it's not just Mr. Pollitt. Mr. Conway and Mr. Mathias, plus departing delegate Rudy Cane , have all been working hard each year trying to find a way to get rid of the Revenue Cap so that they can once again raise your property sky high.

So folks, have I misunderstood the intent of Mr. Sarbanes remarks. Perhaps there was something else he would have liked to have added to that statement. What do you think? Mr. Sarbanes, would you like to jump in and perhaps add something that could influence the Democratic base and all the thousands of independent voters who didn't have the opportunity to vote in the primary? We would enjoy hearing from you.

  1. Any dummie who choses to put his own interpretation on such an innocuous statement deserves all the derision he receives.

  2. That's the typical Democratic MO - tax ones way into prosperity. It's okay for them to feed from the government trough - just keep imposing one's will on the lackadaisical innocent - and yet the only real societal beneficiaries are those on the receiving end.

  3. What he meant was perhaps, "We're having to spend a ton of money to try to keep my underachieving son in his big money, sinecure job that he was appointed to by banjo busker the governor because of my connections rather than his skills, talents or experience. We gotta change that law so the voters get no say-so in how they are judged, just like they get no say-so in how the laws are made."

Any chance that's what was on his mind?

  4. Josh Hastings came to my house on Saturday and I felt very uncomfortable in his presence. He is pretty much a creep and I got that creepy feeling being around him. He is aligned with Laura Mitchell and that already put a bad taste in my mouth. Is this guy all the Democrats could come up with. They had Laura Mitchell, Josh Hastings and Ron Pogana. How much more creepier can that get! They have nothing to offer but raising taxes and we can't afford that any longer. Please vote Republican.

  5. A republican candidate and their people have to reach out to minorities in a big way in Maryland if they expect to win.

  6. I would love to know just how many Sarbanes there are that are currently on the public dole. I know Tony has a brother, Paul - (former Senator)- and I believe a son. Maybe someone could publish just how many there are that are feeding at the public's expense.

I am sure that they are taking a lot more income in than they are doling out. I'm sure the equation is heavily slanted in their favor.

  8. In our society we have givers and takers. Almost all of our politicians are takers. And the taxpayers are shaken out of their hard worked dollars.

  10. Josh Hastings = Laura Mitchell = Jim Ireton = Chuck Cook = O'Malley = Obama

Your choice! Don't mess this one up.

  11. We don't have a tax cap, we have a revenue cap. It only allows the county to take in 2% more revenue than the year before. That hurt us in the "good years" when the mall parking lot was packed and all of the businesses were doing great. Our property tax wasn't capped. If the county doesn't take in 2% more than last year they can make up the difference by raising your property taxes. This is why it is so important to educate yourself BEFORE you go to vote so that you know what you are voting for. If we end up with the rain tax, I will no longer be a property tax payer because I will have to sell my property. Two empty chicken houses used for storage is a lot of roof. Our government has scammed us for too many years about the bay restoration needing money, money, money. The bay should be sparkling clean by now with all of the taxes that have gone into the fund that they seem to rob!
