An Arkansas school is refusing to pay for a service dog that detects seizures in a seven-year-old boy with epilepsy. The district claims that Zachary Sorrell’s dog Majesty is not necessary to his education and will not pay the $125 per week fee needed for the dog’s handler.
Zachary’s mother, who has been footing the bill since last August, joined Fox and Friends this morning.
Sorrell said the dog’s sole purpose is to alert others before Zachary has a seizure. Thanks to Majesty, her son doesn’t have to take as much medication.

I"m sorry, but the should be placed on the parents, not the school board.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why they think the school should pay for this. I'm sure they don't pay for the medical devices of other children. What am I missing?
ReplyDeleteOn the parents and any insurance they buy.
ReplyDeleteSchool has no responsibility here.
As an isolated incident, I agree that this expense should be shouldered by the parents. However, the school system spends literally millions on much more frivolous 'needs' than this for individual children. And remind me again how much is being appropriated to care for the illegals that are swarming the border?
ReplyDeletePay for the poor kids dog.
Parents responsibility. /story. Man, people are lazy and always looking for a handout.
ReplyDeleteWhy does the dog need a handler. The teacher just needs to be shown what the dog does when he is alerting to a seizure. The other children need to be told that it's a service dog and not to touch it. End of problem.
ReplyDeletenor should they.
