MFCA - Firefighters Endorse Gansler-Ivey Campaign

Non-Partisan Organization with Members throughout the State Recognize Doug Gansler as Their Choice for Governor

Silver Spring, MARYLAND -
Today, the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association, an organization that represents the interest of firefighters in every jurisdiction in Maryland, endorsed Attorney General Douglas Gansler for governor—the first time this organization has endorsed a statewide candidate in Maryland.

“Doug Gansler understands that public service means always putting your community first, and he has done that for 22 years, protecting the people of Maryland,” said Chief Terry Thompson, president of the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association. “This is why we are proud to give the Attorney General our full support, and will continue working with him to fight for what’s fair and right in Maryland."

The Maryland Fire Chiefs Association is made up of members from both the volunteer and career firefighting systems. The organization works to develop programs to support their active Officer Corps so that they may best serve the citizens of Maryland.

“As a statewide organization with a diverse range of interests, we chose Doug Gansler because he not only has an incredible record protecting public safety, he understands the needs of all of us in public safety as well the needs of our hard working middle class families. We can count on him to fight for us,” said Richard C. Blair, the immediate past president of the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association and a captain with Hagerstown’s Western Enterprise Fire Company. "We are excited to work hard to make sure citizens know that Doug Gansler is the best choice to be our next governor because he is about standing up for what is fair and right and getting the job done.”

The endorsement today follows several other endorsements the Gansler-Ivey has received from public safety organizations. Gansler had previously received the endorsement of the International Association of Firefighters Local 1664, AFL-CIO, CLC, the Charles County Fraternal Order of Police, the Hispanic National Law Enforcement Association and the Montgomery County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Association.

“Receiving the endorsement of these brave and selfless firefighters is a tremendous honor,” said Attorney General Douglas Gansler. “I have had the privilege to travel to every area of the state and visit with our firefighters, and I could not be more humbled to receive their support in our fight to make Maryland an even greater state for our public servants and first responders.”

  3. This goes to show you that most firemen are brain dead.

Who in their right mind would support and Democrat after what this country has been through for the last 6 years with Obammie and the last 8 years with Owe'Malley.

  4. I remember when the paid firemen at the Salisbury Fire Department supported and endorsed Jim Ireton.

  5. MFCA - Firefighters Endorse Gansler-Ivey Campaign

This is a play on words. The Maryland Fire Chiefs Association doesn't speak for all firefighters. Not one person in my fire department knew anything about this so they are making it sound like all firefighters endorse Gansler which is nothing but a lie.

  8. What are they going to do if Brown or a Republican gets elected governor? I would like to see that happen and the Fire Chiefs Association gets cut off and this has a negative effect on the statewide fire service.

By the way that clown David See is a member of the Maryland Fire Chiefs Association. Shows what kind of respect they lack.

  9. Okay, so one commenter says "The Maryland Fire Chiefs Association doesn't speak for all firefighters." Well, you need to reel in these people you call idiots to better define your real purpose.

Or, just ride with the rhetoric!

    Got anything original to offer?
