BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Baltimore and Washington, D.C.’s bid to host the Olympics gets a little closer to reality. Two of our closest competitors have dropped their bids to represent the United States in the 2024 Summer Games.
Christie Ileto has more on the possible impact of a D.C.-Baltimore Olympics.
It’s news the Baltimore-D.C. area is hoping they could soon get–a U.S. bid to the 2024 Olympics. Once contending with five other big cities, Philadelphia and New York announced Wednesday they are dropping out of the race, putting Baltimore two steps closer to hosting the world’s largest sporting event.
“The Olympics is often about timing,” said David Warshawski.

And how much will this cost us taxpayers?
ReplyDeleteAnother bad idea for our state as the Olympics are huge money pits -- just ask Greece or Rio.
ReplyDeleteBaltimore is a racist city not a place for the Olympics.
ReplyDeleteOther cities are dropping out due to the extreme cost of hosting this crap. Rest assured, Maryland is not that smart!!
ReplyDeleteLOL-The City that Bleeds. The thugs will have a field day robbing the spectators.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, Baltimore will rob the rest of the state to support all the expense involved.
ReplyDeleteOf course Baltimore is a racist city 4:22. It's not rocket science. Look what the blacks have done to that city. They are responsible for 99.9 percent of the crime. They are solely responsible for racism because so many have never evolved into civilize human beings. Anyone who denies this is a liar.
ReplyDeleteI think anything associated with the metro area of DC is useless because that sprawling wasteland is poison
ReplyDeleteDear God please do not let the Olympics into the State of Maryland. It will turn out to be the same nightmare all other cities have had to endure. I am taxed and stressed beyond my means now.
ReplyDeleteJealous Delmarva trash?
ReplyDeleteEither city would have many that would have a chance at spear throwing or break dancing.
ReplyDeleteSlimsbury should bid for it, then the whole place could be bulldozed down and built into an Olympic village.
ReplyDeleteSlimsbury already has many of the events practiced on a weekly basis.
Sprinting (from the cops)
Shooting (weekly event)
Long Jump (more running from cops)
Skateboarding (downtown plaza)
Balance Beam (DUI testing)
Pole Vaulting (the Gay scene)
Fighting (Gangs slugging it out)
Yes Salisbury should be proud of how it is and what it has become.
You forgot water sports.
ReplyDeleteThe Olympics should have a central permanent spot. If the NFL can figure out how to split up the money surely the Olympics could. Or they could rotate continents every 4 years. NA, EU, AFR, and SA. This event anywhere on the NE coast would be the biggest hot fing mess anybody ever saw.
ReplyDeleteLOL Gerald ... Go 'Bury
