It's only been four years since Rand Paul was elected to the Senate as part of the nation's tea party wave in 2010, but the Kentucky Republican's rapidly being taken seriously as a potential mainstream candidate for the presidency, several Republican National Committee members said at its meeting in Memphis this week.
"I don't think anyone could say it's not possible he'd win the nomination," Texas GOP Chairman Steve Munisteri told Politico Friday. "His mission is convince people of what his coalition would be in November [2016]."
Paul has been traveling the country, trying to expand the party's base beyond its traditional older, white voters, while moving beyond libertarians who follow his father Ron Paul, who has amassed a devoted following during his own numerous runs for the presidency.

While nobody is perfect Rand Paul is so much better than anyone else being considered. I will vote for him regardless.
ReplyDeleteThis is great news for Democrats.
ReplyDeleteI close my eyes and envision Rand as president, and breath a sigh of relief. Then I open my eyes and remember what the GOP did to his father last primary election.
ReplyDeleteRand will be great for this country, but the GOP will shut him down because they fear his power from the people.
Its a shame that one has to carry an "R" or a "D" by his or her name to gain any chance of winning on the national stage. All because loons like many readers on this blog are more than willing to blindly follow the elephants and donkeys right over the cliff.
ReplyDeleteI want a Republican president who can turn us in the right direction during their 1st 4 year term.Just get us on the right path & clear the way for the 2nd term.Everyone should realize that 4 years is not long enough to straighten this mess out,but it will be a good start.Rand is as good a choice as any.
ReplyDeleteAs a conservative independent, I will vote for Rand Paul. If he is not on the Republican ticket, I will vote for a third party candidate for the first time in my life. All the democrats are SOCIALIST who care more about the PARTY ( much like the Nazis) and most of the repubicans are no better. What a shame that so many Americans are to lazy to be anything more than sheeple being led to the slaughter or to stupid to realize it.
ReplyDelete9:20 You do that genius and help elect Hillary.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you vote for a Bush, Cristie, McCain, Huckabee or 95% of the Republicans you'd end up with the same thing genius.
DeleteThird party candidate is how we got the first Clinton.
ReplyDeleteSheeple!
