Parents share story of having a transgender child, aged 5

When Jeff and Hillary Whittington, of San Diego, got the news in 2007 that they were having a daughter, the couple had no idea that in a few years' time they will be raising a son instead.

Last Thursday, the family were honored at the 6th annual Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast, accepting the Inspiration Award after presenting a stirring video showing their daughter Ryland's female-to-male transition.

The six-year-old dressed in a smart suit and tie, his hair cut short, stood next to a podium and read his prepared remarks from a sheet of paper, declaring to the audience: 'My name is Ryland Whittington. I am transgender kid.'

In the first paragraph they clearly state this child was born as a female and now they are calling it a he? This is one sick country and those pigs called parents should be charged with child abuse and neglect.

  2. What type of parent lets a child who has just started talking make up HER/HIS own mind as to what sex they want to be? What happens if when said child becomes a teenager, and rages that the parents made the decision for the child? That is the problem with this - children do not get to make major decisions like this when they are just learning basics like colors! What happens if children start suing their parents for making this decision to change their natural sex?

  4. The poor kid...let the kid grow up THEN decide if it wants to be...the parents should be locked up.

  5. I Don't see the issue....the kid thinks they want to be a "he" Who's to say that in 10 years, they won't change their mind & want to be a "she" There has been no surgical changes made to the child's anatomy yet, so the transition is harder to accept for those around them rather than the child.

You are one liberal moron. I bet in 10 years she is going to kill her parents dressing her up as a little boy. She doesn't have a penis so she can be a boy no matter how much you want her to be.
