Governor's Task Force Seizes Over 13,000 Bags of Heroin in Claymont

Claymont - A Philadelphia man is being held on more than a million-dollars bail after troopers assigned to the Governor's Task Force (GTF) found a large amount of heroin and cash in his vehicle.

The incident occurred yesterday at 9:15 p.m. when GTF member proactively patrolling in Claymont observed 2000 Mercedes-Benz S340 commit several moving violations. The troopers stopped the vehicle on Naamans Road near Peachtree Road.

While the troopers spoke to the driver, Luis Garcia Valle, 22, of Philadelphia, they observed suspicious behavior. A Wilmington Police Department canine handler responded to the scene of the traffic stop, and his drug-detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs in the rear seat of the vehicle.

Troopers inspected the seat and discovered an after-market hidden compartment. Inside of the compartment was 13,006 bags (325.15 grams) of heroin and more than $6,900 in cash.

Garcia Valle was transported to Troop 2, where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 5 quantity and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $1,300,000 cash bail.

  2. I hope the PC statement doesn't state that they observed a MB S 340. No such car exists. There is a S 430.

  3. Poor cop that had to count to 13,006. And then recount for accuracy before submitting the evidence.
