A Comment Worthy Of A Post 5-27-14

Joe: I'm not sure where to post this, so I am posting it here.

WMDT just did a story on events today in Berlin MD and other locations, and called it a "veteran's tribute".

Memorial Day is NOT a tribute to veterans. It is a day that honors those that gave the ultimate sacrifice during their term of service.

We (I am a veteran), have our own day.

THIS day is to honor our fallen. Period.

PLEASE.... News media and others, get this straight!

  3. Well thanks Brother. Thank you for your service lol. Everyday should be Vetren's Day. It was a sullen day for me. I know what this day is about. I like many have lost family. I hope one day there is no wars to fight. The young think it is a day to get drunk and party. They should all have to serve from 18-20. Every last one of them

  5. Everyone thinks its the first party weekend of the Summer and it is so commercialized that most have lost touch of the meaning.

  6. I'm of a fifth generation of U.S. military men, citizen soldiers and sailors going back to the Civil War. We all survived, but around us many, many fell. Some were our friends. All were our brothers and sisters in arms.
My Memorial Day was spent in contemplation of those gone before and the sacrifice that they made in the name of country and freedom.

  7. Young people today have no idea what Memorial Day is all about, nor do they care. All they know is it's another day to go to the beach or have a bbq and party, party, party.

  8. I guess most of you are out of touch thinking the youth have no idea what Memorial Day means. I am a combat veteran and my family has been in almost every way since the revolutionary war. Our family is members if the sons and daughters if the American revolution. Looking at the thousand of facebook posts yesterday from the young and old, I think they know what it means. Who cares if it has become the beginning if the summer. They fought and died so we could have this awesome country and enjoy days like this. All my friends that died in Iraq would be out partying and having a good time on their 72. America remembers, young and old.
