Annual Bridge Inspection Will Require Daytime Lane and Shoulder Closures on Route 1 Approaching the Charles W. Cullen Bridge/Indian River Inlet

South Bethany -- WHEN: 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday
April 16 through May 9

WHERE: Route 1 northbound and southbound (Charles W. Cullen Bridge over the Indian River Inlet) from Inlet Road to Turn Point Road

WHAT: DelDOT's contractor, Transystems, bridge engineer firm will be inspecting the bridge. The bridge inspectors will be rappelling from cables to inspect the bridge.

Additionally, right lane and shoulder closures will occur on Route 1 southbound beginning on Monday, April 28 and ending on Friday, May 9.

There will also be intermittent northbound sidewalk closures from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday, April 21 through Thursday, April 24; and 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday, April 25. Personnel will inform pedestrians to safely cross the work zone.

Motorists should use caution in this area for bridge inspectors and the shifting of traffic.

No lane or shoulder closures will occur on Friday, April 18; Saturday, April 19; and Sunday, April 20.
