Funny cartoon. Fortunately it is untrue. The ACA has no provision in it to imprison those that violate it, it also has no provision in it to collect the penalty for not being insured beyond withholding a refund.
7:50-when child support was first implemented there wasn't a provision to imprison those who violated that either. That came after the IRS was granted authorization to withhold refunds for delinquent child support. Then when people who owed child support wised up to that they started working odd jobs "under the table" so the next step was suspending driving privileges and imprisonment for non payment. It can't be said in good faith that imprisonment for non payment of ACA penalty isn't a possibility in the future.
If such a provision were to be implemented, the federal prisons system would have to release a hell of a lot of real criminals to make room for the uninsured.
Just aren't enough prisons or enough room in any of them for all the people who will not purchase health insurance.
ReplyDeleteSame for the ones that refuse to register their guns.....
