Week Nine: Senate Votes On Transgendered Bill; Committee Vote On Marijuana Likely

Maryland lawmakers are due to return to Annapolis Monday night for the start of the ninth week of the 2014 Session of the Maryland General Assembly.

Monday marks the deadline for lawmakers to introduce bills, without having to suspend the rules of the House and Senate. Any bills introduced after 5 p.m. Monday will have to get a two-thirds majority in order to be considered. In the House, those bills would have to get at least 94 votes. In the Senate, those bills would have to get at least 29 votes. As of Sunday, more than 1,500 bills have been introduced in the House, and nearly 1,100 bills have been introduced in the Senate.
