WCSO Press Release 3-24-14

Incident: WCSO Activity 20 March 2014

Location: Wicomico County


1.      On 20 March 2014 at 2:50 PM a deputy arrested Hillard Smith Poole Jr., 42 of Eden, MD, on a District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Poole violated the conditions of his pre-trial release in a case where he was facing charges of Assault 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment, and False Imprisonment. Poole was detained without bond.

2.      On 20 March 2014 at 5:37 PM, a deputy arrested Ronald Lee Brooks, 58 of Mardela Springs, MD, on a District Court Bench Warrant that was issued following the revocation of his pre-trial release bond. Brooks was awaiting trial in an Assault 2nd Degree and Reckless Endangerment case. Brooks was detained on a bond of $50,000.00.

Incident: Assault

Date of Incident: 22 March 2014

Location: 7000 block of Wainwright Avenue, Parsonsburg, MD

Narrative: On 22 March 2014 at 4:37 PM a deputy arrested Leroy McKnight in connection with his assault of a juvenile. In this incident,McKnight stands accused of shooting an eleven year old juvenile in the back with a pellet gun over a dispute about the juvenile being in McKnight’s yard.According to the juvenile, McKnight was target shooting in his backyard when the juvenile was shot. The juvenile stated that he was not within the normal target zone of where McKnight was shooting which coupled with the victim’s statement that McKnight shouted at him before firing, led the deputy to believe this was an intentional act.

Upon arrest, the deputy transported McKnight to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance,the Commissioner detained McKnight in the Detention Center in lieu of $75,000.00 bond.

Incident: Flee and Elude / Possession of Marijuana

Date of Incident: 22 March 2014

Location: 9000 block of Ocean Highway, Salisbury, MD

Narrative: On 22 March 2014 at 11:52 PM a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on U.S. 13 in Delmar that would be found to be operated by Brian Taylor. Instead of stopping, Taylor accelerated away northbound at high speed towards the state line. The deputy pursued Taylor as he made a turn onto eastbound Line Road and led the deputy through the Delmar Commons shopping center before returning on to U.S. 13 southbound. Taylor left U.S. 13 and entered a residential neighborhood and bailed from the vehicle after colliding with a tree. The deputy gave chase and caught Taylor approximately 100 yards away hiding in a group of bushes. Upon arrest, Taylor was found to be in possession of marijuana.

The deputy transported Taylor to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Taylor on Personal Recognizance.

Incident: Driving While Suspended

Date of Incident: 22 March 2014

Location: U.S. 13, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Andre Banks Mills, 52, Eden,MD (No Photo Available)
                                 
Narrative: On 22 March 2014 at 6:51 PM, a deputy conducted a MVA query on a registration plate and learned that the registered owner, Andre Mills, had his privilege to drive suspended by the State of Maryland. After verifying that Mills was operating the vehicle, the deputy then conducted a traffic stop. The deputy discovered that Mills had his order of suspension in his possession, but Mills stated he had not read the paper and was unaware he was suspended.

The deputy placed Mills under arrest for driving suspended and transported him to the Central Booking Unit. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner released Mills on Personal Recognizance.

Incident: WCSO Activity 21 March 2014

Location: Wicomico County


1.      On 21 March 2014 at 5:30 AM, a deputy arrested Ronnie Julian Bivens, 31 of Easton, MD, on a Circuit Court Bench Warrant that was issued after Bivens violated the terms of his probation following a conviction in a CDS Distribution case. Bivens was held on a bond of$100,000.00.

2.      On 21 March 2014 at 1:00 PM, a deputy arrested Jamie Alfredo Lumkin, 35 of Salisbury, on a Circuit Court Bench Warrant that was issued after Lumkin violated the terms of his probation in a Sex Offense 2nd Degree / Sex Abuse of a Minor case. Lumkin was detained without bond.

3.      On 21 March 2014 at 1:00 PM, a deputy arrested Laura Faye Wiggins, 31 of Salisbury, on a District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Wiggins failed to appear for a case where she had been charged Credit Card Theft. Wiggins was detained on a bond of$10,000.00.

4.      On 21 March 2014 at 1:51 PM, a deputy arrested Darnell Terrell Harmon, 28 of Salisbury, on a Circuit Court Bench Warrant that was issued after Harmon violated the terms of his probation following a conviction in a burglary case. Harmon was detained without bond.

5.      On 21 March 2014 at 2:00 PM, a deputy arrested Terri Lynne Eversman, 57 of Salisbury, on a District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued after Eversman failed to appear for a Driving Without a License case. Eversman was released on Personal Recognizance.

Incident: Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Date of Incident: 23 March 2014

Location: Salisbury Blvd. at College Avenue, Salisbury, MD

Suspect: Michael A. Rodriquez, 22,Greenbush, VA (No Photo Available)
                                 
Narrative: On 23 March 2014 at 2:29 AM, a deputy stopped a vehicle operated by Michael Rodriquez, after observing Rodriquez using his cellphone while driving. Upon contacting Rodriquez, the deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol emanating from him. The odor along with other physical indicators observed by the deputy led to the administration of sobriety testing.

The deputy subsequently placed Rodriquez under arrest for DUI. During processing, Rodriquez provided a breath sample of .13.

Rodriquez was released upon the issuance of citations
