Changes could come to Maryland’s speed-camera program if the General Assembly approves a reform proposal discussed at a hearing last week.
Nine speed-camera platforms are in the city of Frederick.
Not all locations are active at the same time, however, because the city owns fewer cameras than platforms. The State Highway Administration uses additional speed cameras in work zones throughout the county to encourage people to slow down around construction crews.
SHA reported that citations have fallen more than 80 percent since the program began in 2009.
