  1. 1 in 543 is actually not as bad as I expected.I thought it was much worse.

  2. The foreclosures are everywhere around here. As a lifelong residence of Wicomico County I have never recall so many abandoned homes in my entire life.

    So sad and unfortunate.

  3. It is the worse situation I have witnessed. I am in the construction business, and I see them everyday.

  4. and the home prices are still over priced for this area...

  5. Correct 9:01-And no one wants to budge on their selling price. They act offended if you attempt to negotiate.

  6. I follow the foreclosures/short sales. What is heartbreaking about the foreclosures locally is that most aren't people who bought the so called "McMansion" track houses with high HOA fees, taxes and utilities during the boom. Locally most of the houses have been owned by the people for years and are what can be considered modest homes that are being foreclosed on.

  7. Hey Joe, any news if Zeppole Cafe in Salisbury has closed

  8. Chesapeake Truss is closed down, as well as the pole barn supply/ builder next door to them.

  9. How is Commercial allowed to continue on the north end of Salisbury, when there is already so much empty space. For example, old Zia's property.

  10. 9:01,that's for sure and OC is worse.

  11. Chesapeake Truss used to employ 9 men. I tried to call them a few days ago about a job, and the recorder said it had been disconnected. I was not aware that the pole barn supplier also closed. Wow!!! It helps to explain why the foreclosures are so bad.

  12. Didn't Zeppole close location on 50 and Isabella, on the west side last fall?

  13. 66 and a lifelong resident of Wicomico County. Never this bad in my history.

Shame on the majority of our local leaders for ignoring this sorry state and the blight it's caused in our area. They just continue to tax and spend as though there's no tomorrow.

Because of them, we won't have a tomorrow to look forward to and our children and grandchildren will have to pay for their ignorance and poor decisions.

  14. Mayor Jimmy and friends are doing everything to reverse the trend in Salisbury....

  15. 10:28, But that's exactly what the LIBERAL Leaders want. They WANT you dependent on them. They WANT you homeless and THANKING them for keeping food in your belly.

I just don't know why so many Americans are being so stupid. You CAN'T see the writing on the wall?

NONE of them can come forward with the next business or industry that is going to save America, NOT ONE.

In fact, here's a challenge to ALL of you piece of crap wet pants liberals. TELL US ONE INDUSTRY THAT WILL SAVE AMERICA?

Liberals are Bottom Feeders who can't create their own businesses. They don't give out GOOD PAYING JOBS, they mainly work for the government and push legislators into raising salaries above and beyond the private sector. They get better benefits and more time off to vacation.

Come on LIBS, tell us something POSITIVE for the future of America. YOU CAN'T.

  16. I AGREE...homes are over-pricedMarch 6, 2014 at 10:35 AM

When I first transferred down here I built a 3 Bedroom Rancher in Princess Anne for $52,000 dollars in 1987...I sold it and moved elsewhere...

I've recently seen that home back on the Market and the bank is trying to sell it now for $500,000 dollars...

NOTHING ELSE WAS DONE TO IT SINCE I sold and left the area...

    ReplyDelete
  17. Exactly, we need to let the private sector create more business. Being dependent on Goverment, will make us dependent. We need to create this alone. aka. less regulation.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Being dependent on government guarantees democratic votes. . End of story

  19. I have been in business for over 30 years, and this is my observation. The workforce numbers keep dwindling, and yet the population continues to increase. Recently, I have had a flurry, I mean a flurry of bank promos seeking to extend my company credit. Some give me an instant credit line of $100,000 - another yesterday, $200,000.

Now I know what is up - the Obama Administration knows full well that they cannot create jobs of the magnitude that is required to save their Asses come election. So they are now gasping, and hoping for businesses to borrow up to the hilt and go in debt. This will artificially inflate the GDP numbers.

Guess what - Don't buy into it. This administration is more corrupt than John Dillinger was when he robbed 24 Midwest banks.
I only wish that J Edgar Hoover was still around to lock Obama and his cohorts up. They have literally ruined the landscape of our Country.

  20. Joe is correct. If any young people read here, whose parents are democrats and vote democrat let it be known that your parents do not care about you. No matter what they say or what they do, they don't care about you!
Any parent who votes democrat is condoning putting the next generations in more massive debt.
Parents who really and truly love and care for their children properly would not ever ever saddle them with such debt.

  21. Joe, it's clear to see why people are so stupid. Just look around at what is not only graduating from high school but those earning degrees esp at public institutions.
The latest dumbing down of the US education system is the revamping of the SAT's.

  23. I guess the folks who started this whole Piedmont Airlines story is also looking to close them down too. I worked for Henson Airlines years ago and would hate to see a few people have enough power to destroy a company that has been around here for many years and is an asset to our community. People driving while texting around here seems to more dangerous as I was almost hit head on recently by some nitwit texting while driving...but is that making the news?

  26. 10:26 The coffee shop realized immediately that they were bucking traffic and closed immediately. Not too smart opening there but smart to cut their losses and run. Their little shop is now serving lunch and it is a good place to duck in for coffee (delish) and a homemade breakfast treat.

How can you make a comparison to a place to live with a place to eat. My bet is most of those "RENTERS" will be given housing vouchers. No one wanted to eat and Zia because they were nasty people and I don't remember see eating establishment vouchers from the government.

So you think it's Ok for their pilots to put hundred of passengers and home residents at danger and risk because you are so concerned about them closing. They should be closing for allowing this to happen.

  34. Funny all you idiots that voted for a revenue cap never want to take responsibility. The banks and realestate (V.O.I.C.E.) comprised of mostlty realators got want they wanted and it blew up on them. It hurt this county in more ways then one. The By-Pass was another fiasco. It killed local small business. So stop blaming the politicians you did this to yourselves at the poles. Idiots
