Maryland House of Delegates passes $39 billion budget

The Maryland House of Delegates has passed a $39 billion budget proposal for fiscal 2015.

The House voted 100-38 to pass its version of Senate Bill 170 on Thursday. The House also voted 96-42 to pass Senate Bill 172, the Budget Reconciliation and Financing Act of 2014, a companion bill needed to balance the budget for this fiscal year.

One amendment accepted to the Budget Reconciliation and Financing Act would allow Maryland to exercise the power of eminent domain if a film production company like Media Rights Capital, which films "House of Cards" in Maryland, decided to cease film production activity in the state.

The amendment would apply to a "qualified film production entity" that has claimed more than $10 million in credits against the state income tax for film production entities.

  1. So, how much was stolen from the Chesapeake Bay Funds? Oh, that's right, the Rain tax will replace some of that money!

Pay your rain taxes, everybody...It's to "Save the Bay!"
