County governments may soon have authority to make restaurants accommodate customers with food allergies.
A new bill would let counties require each restaurant to have a staff member trained on food allergens, ready to advise customers. The bill would also require restaurants statewide to encourage customers to notify servers about their food allergies.
The Senate passed the measure 33-14 Monday evening. A similar bill is pending in a House committee.

Exciting!!! BUT the first time he advises a customer, the restaurant becomes liable for anything that happens to the customer. You can't fix stupid....

ReplyDeleteWhat's next? Hotels becoming liable for guests taking their meds? I think a better law would be to make it mandatory that officials who propose these laws have their picture posted whenever the law is reported on. That way, people have the opportunity to see if these people look as stupid as they act.
ReplyDeleteYes, and let's add 5:01's suggestion! Require a Surgeon General to be employed at ALL hotels to go room to room to make sure guests are taking their meds and in the right dosage, before and after dinner at the restaurant where the allergy police will be standing guard.
