‘I’m Shocked, I’ve Never Seen a Murder Captured on Videotape Before’: New Footage Raises Questions of Excessive Force by Albuquerque Police

The Albuquerque Police Department’s use of deadly force is under fire again, after officers fatally shot a homeless man camping in the foothills last Sunday following a long standoff with officers.

“I’m shocked,” attorney Joe Kennedy told KRQE-TV of a new tape showing officers fatally shoot James Boyd. “I’ve never seen a murder captured on videotape before.”

The full video, released by APD, shows officers repeatedly giving instructions to Boyd, who refused to comply and allegedly threatened the lives of officers in the hours before the shooting. After deploying a flash bang, K9 and non-lethal rounds, Boyd is seen in the video slightly turning away. That’s when two officers fired three bullets each, causing the homeless man to collapse to the ground.

  2. Could they have walked away and got him later? Yes, but are cops required to retreat? No. Based on the rules of engagement, good shoot.

  5. If those cops are not charged with murder, then there is no justice in this world.

  6. Welcome to the new generation of law enforcement who are constantly "in fear for their life"

Its a shame, and probably a total waste, that people like you even exist.

  10. 5:29 yea, you must submit. Get in line, let us molest you, violate your rights, abuse and harm you.
You are simply just another idiot sheeple.
A very bad day? Yea murder is a very bad day isn't it.

  11. You pigs don't get it. You are our neighbors. People know where you idiots live. Keep terrorizing the citizenry. Your time will come. And when the final straw hits the camels back it wont just be the bad ones that people come after. It will be all of you.

  12. Ahhhh, I got it now. The unarmed homeless guy tried to use the old "turn away from them" move. VERY VERY dangerous move. It also involves hopping up and down on one leg, and THAT, my friends, is bound to induce total fear among the FIVE armed Nazi's.
They killed ANOTHER UNARMED citizen for failing to "comply". Not pulling a weapon. Not fighting them. Not threatening to do something. Just turning away.
For that they used a grenade and rifle fire.
FIVE men couldn't do a better job against one skinny homeless guy?
And we REALLY have Nazi's on here with the "good shoot" cop propaganda? Can cops react to anything or any situation without thinking their FIRST move is to kill?
I guess my question to all cops is this --- is there ANY murder done by the police where it WOULDN'T be a "good shoot"? There are citizens in prison for shooting intruders IN THEIR HOUSE (!) at 2 AM, intent on actually doing harm to them. Prison. But 5 cops blow away an unarmed man from 20 feet away and you call it a "good shoot"!?
You short little oompah loompahs are the biggest, most sissy-aced beeatches on the planet. Afraid of everything. FIVE armed men against one decrepit homeless guy and its a "good shoot"?! WTF!???
With an attitude like that, its understandable that so many people think you are no better than the Crips. At least, the Crips don't hide what they are all about. The police claim to "protect" us (don't laugh ---it aint' funny), but kill us by the HUNDREDS every year.

    1. Please stop trying to make conservatives look crazy. You are obviously a cop or a liberal trying to make the other side look insane. Stop it!

  13. Please read the whole article. This guy is a violent criminal, with a stabbing conviction and a 20 year criminal history. Oh yeah, he pulled out 2 knives as the cop approached for the arrest. I guess he was going to cut two steaks for lunch.

  14. "pulled out two knives as the cop (as in "one"?....lol) approached..." What were the OTHER four doing? Taking the safety off their weapons? If me and four guys wearing bulletproof vests, carrying semi-automatic weapons, stun grenades, night sticks, tasers, and 9mm Glocks killed a man who was camping, CAMPING for Chrissake!, "he pulled TWO knives" is what MY story would have been too.
I might even have said he also reached for a .50 cal mini-gun and threatened to blow up the explosives he had strapped to his chest. After killing him , its a wonder they didn't sprinkle a little crack on him (thanks, Chris Rock). Might have thrown in something about a "terrorist", too. You know THAT gets people afraid.
Two knives? Five against one and the best they could do was kill him? "Protect and Serve" is SO yesterday.
I'm thinking "Comply or Die" has a much better ring to it. And gets more to the point. Has that honesty aspect, too. Maybe an emblem with that slogan and a lightning bolt, unless the SS trademarked it.

    1. I agree with above, please stop pretending that you are crazy. So what would you bring to deal with a guy with a knife? If you say anything but a gun, you are a brave idiot.

  15. Two knives on a canine officer who had no weapons drawn! LOL!

I guess the dog has a hard time with that Taser trigger! Have you ever been bitten up by a trained, angry dog? That's a weapon in itself!

Maybe the Nazis' training puts the taser third behind the rifle and grenade fire?

I have witnessed a murder here, and you all know it.
