Like the bill approved last month in the senate, the bill approved today in the House of Delegates bans alcoholic beverages more than 190-proof (95% alcohol).
These are grain alcohol drinks sold under brand names like EverClear and Gem Clear and they are popular with college students.
"College students like to use these drinks to get as drunk as possible, as quickly as possible and as cheaply as possible," said Molly Mitchell, president of the Maryland Coalition to Reduce College Drinking and Related Problems.
