A Clear Divide: Good vs Evil On Display At 4th Amendment Hearing

EDITOR’S NOTE: Rarely do you get to witness a battle with the line between right and wrong so clearly drawn. The Maryland House Judiciary Committee hearing on the Fourth Amendment Protection Act afforded such an opportunity. One one side, everyday Americans yearning to stop the violations of their rights and the rights of others. On the other side, those concerned only about advancing their own self-interest, and who care nothing about the principles trampled in the process. Following is the story of that hearing. It will take you behind the curtain into a drama most never see play out. It will make you cheer. It will make you scream. But in the end, you will clearly see the triumph of good ideas over evil.

The air was already thick with tension in room 100 of the Maryland House Office Building as the Fourth Amendment Protection Act came before the House Judiciary Committee.

Earlier, Del. Michael Smigiel went off on a panel of state prosecutors and law enforcement officials who essentially testified that warrants hinder catching bad guys. One law enforcement official said “I’m not totally against warrants…” But he opposed a requirement that police obtain a warrant before tracking cellphone locations, or using drones to monitor people. He went on to argue that requiring a warrant would allow pedophiles to stalk Maryland children and terrorists to indiscriminately blow up buildings.

  1. It amazes me that democrats have ZERO logic. They pull the feel good, try to make you cry, story...and that's it.

They do that indeed UNTIL you do the same to them, and they switch it right back on you...

Just like Fairy Weed aka Harry Reed... He bashed the repubs for trying to stop the debt ceiling debate or to defund ACA by only funding piece by piece the budget except the ACA... Fairy Reed went on the offensive and say, we have cancer ridden children who need help and you are cutting that help by no funding the govt and allowing it to shutdown... They the repubs said we will piece by piece vote on what should be paid and what should not... and that falls back on fairy reed because the kids with cancer could then get help that way but still said no dem would vote for this piece meal and then proceeded to use something else to turn the tides...

So unless you grow tits and balls to stand up, nothing will EVER CHANGE back or for the better...

  3. "....not TOTALLY (emphasis mine) against warrants....."
What!?? When that cop swore to uphold and defend the Constitution, did he actually KNOW what was IN the Constitution????
MORE scare tactics and more of the "lets use a scary argument that no one can be an advocate for in order to trash some MORE of the Bill of Rights."
Who can argue against stopping ----wait for it --- "terrorists!!" or, even better, "pedophiles stalking our children" (its for the CHILDREN!, for God's sake!!).
A cop, or ANY law enforcement official, who says that obtaining search warrants to find evidence is, you know, not THAT important, should be forced to resign immediately. We live in a country that is supposed to protect us from that kind of fast and loose law enforcement philosophy. I don't think obeying the speed limit is very important, either, but its the law. And the law is for EVERYONE, including the ones who think they wear the "I can do anything I want" badge....
Quit trying to convince the (innocent!) sheep that they need to be constantly watched, under surveillance, tracked, and photographed....with or WITHOUT their consent, because someone else knows what's best for them....
