With much talk in the news these days about whether or not to raise the minimum wage, the nation’s largest private employer said today that it is considering throwing its support behind a plan to increase pay nationwide to at least $10.10/hour.
Why would the retail behemoth possibly be in favor the additional $2.85/hour? Because it could mean more spending money in the pockets of Walmart shoppers, a rep for the company explained to Bloomberg earlier today.
“That’s something we’re looking at,” explained the rep while maintaining that the company currently has a neutral view on the issue. “Whenever there’s debates, it’s not like we look once and make a decision. We look a few times from other angles.”

If the minimum wage is increased - they'll expect more from their employees...and be able to select which employees to hire based on additional expectations....
ReplyDeleteThe unskilled folks trying to join the labor force can't provide a basis of compliance to the upgraded expectations....
Meaning a lower rate of employment at the bottom.....might help the lower middle - but the lower will lose.....
Why do they not just pay the new wage without a new law???
ReplyDeleteWe have had trickle down since Reagen, how about some trickle up? You know ever dime of this raise will get spent on goods and services. Seems like a win win, good for business.
ReplyDeleteThe answer is quite simple 1:29. It's a way to get rid of smaller competition and the democrats are the large corporations henchmen. It's the democrat plan. Have a handful of large corps controlling all services and commerce. All the democrat politicians have their heads shoved up the butts of big business and don't you all ever forget it. When you look at them you can see the crap from the butts of the corp executives oozing out of their ears, noses, eyes and mouths.
ReplyDeleteIt's really none of the government's business what a company pays their employees. Too many people these days have this huge entitlement complex where they don't want to EARN anything and WANT it all handed to them. There was a time in this country where people knew that if they wanted better pay/job they had to work their butt off too get it. Once the government started brainwashing people into thinking they were ENTITLED to everything it change people's mindset for the worse. If Walmart wants to pay their employees more let them, but I don't think the government should be allowed to an employer what to pay their employees. It's up to an employer to pay his employees what the employer thinks he's worth not the other way around. Especially for an unskilled job that pretty much anybody can do.
