A big mistake followed by an even bigger one.

How about we stop catering to the poor people and make them get a job or help them better themselves...

ReplyDeleteLook, I don't like this project as much as all of you. However, don't think for a second anyone is making big money off these kind of projects.
ReplyDeleteThe Contractors involved make very little profit, but it keeps their staff employed during hard times.
As long as it is completed, it will be an improvement.

ReplyDeleteYou should do the research on this particular project because quite frankly I find it amazing how the financing is brought forth on this particular project. I happen to believe this project, (more so anything I've ever seen like it) is far more regulated than your typical "Section 8" type projects.
It is NOT your state?federal tax dollars at work here. Look it up.
Section 8 housing means our tax dollars are subsidizing somebody. For the property owner, they are after stable, guaranteed rent payments. They are essentially purchasing cash flow by putting up a building.
ReplyDeleteThat building and Perdue leaving the center of town were the best chances we had to clean up the ghetto.
If this is going to be any type of section 8 housing, the people who will eventually live there are the one who need to be tearing this one down and building the next one, instead of just thinking oh goody I'm going to get something for nothing again. Make them work for it then maybe, just maybe, they might appreciate it.
