Tell Us What YOU Think About This BURY Stuff

78 comments:

  1. I hate it, really, really hate it. It started in the drug world of Salisbury. Why would anyone want to glorify that? It's a cry out to how getto and uneducated Salisbury has become as a whole.

  2. I hate it. Nothing more than some nitwits lame attempt to sound cool when in reality it sounds ghetto. Other examples of this is hood for neighborhood, tat for tattoo, dis for disrespect, mo for more, the list is endless.

  3. Isn't that what you do to the dead!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I wonder what he's trying to bury?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Shorthand designed for the young people texting!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I don't like any of it. Whoever came up with it should be fired. It makes no sense and it's sounds like a insulting slang. I can't believe they spend tax payers money creating this garbage.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Salisbury is getting "Bury"ed by such nonsense as this. Is this really necessary and important?? The games they play are sickening. Doesn't matter what you call this place, still stinks from the river to the underhanded deals.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Sounds like a big turd.

    ReplyDelete
  9. It's a cheap attempt to make Salisbury a icon that residents can term and have a sense of ownership. Mayor should be focusing on family values, lower taxes, better businesses and an attraction to downtown, not a crime riddle community of drugs, gangs and homeless.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Appropriate...that is what you do to something that is dead!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I love it. I think it represents this town 100 percent. When I see (bury) I think ghetto, and thats spot on.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Welcome to our ghetto! Detroit may be #1, but we try harder!

    ReplyDelete
  13. The gangsta-trash family that used to live next door to us in Delmar always called Salisbury da 'bury. That name is never going to mean anything family-friendly to me.

Trashy, cheap, thug-like and violent- that's what 'bury means.

    ReplyDelete
  14. its "cool man"
sounds like city is being run by a bunch of college students

    ReplyDelete
  15. "the bury" is what we would call it when I was in college.

This town belongs to the college, so not surprising

    ReplyDelete
  16. Sounds stupid... while I'm not a fan of the majority of things posted on this page, this seems like an attempt to distance Salisbury from "SBY"... Perhaps because of this blog..

    ReplyDelete
  17. The hood , the bury , what's the difference?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Frack the "Bury". The "Bury" is dead. It belongs to the gang banging, motor cycling, criminals, underachievers, snitches, lazy backstabbing, cut throat killing devils. Everything that use to be good about this town is dead buried and gone. Frack the "Bury"

  19. I'm moving to P'burg.January 18, 2014 at 10:29 AM

MAKES ME THING I LIVE IN THE HOOD. But what do you think a mayor who wants Salisbury to become the Rehomo Beach of Maryland would do?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think that when the mayorial race was held the citizens of Salisbury should have voted on this.My guess is that it wouldn't have flown. But then again the other issue didn't go as we hoped so who knows?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Two words: Mayor Albero.

    ReplyDelete
  22. anonymous 10:11, you could be right but they are also promoting Why SBY? Now what the hell that is all about, I don't know and I don't care. However, it seems they are embracing the "SBY" thing I created 10 years ago.

anonymous 11:17, Let me say this. I have been sick the past 4 weeks so I haven't been out as often as usual. Over the past few days I have been getting out and let me tell you, it is AMAZING just how many people have confronted me, (even at 3rd Friday) and almost begged me to run again.

Now look, this is a LOT more than usual and it's coming from some very respectable people as well. Many business people who supported Jim are now seeing the light and contacting me about my future intentions.

    They say, "never say never".

  23. I agree with most of the comments on this topic. I hate "bury". I was born and raised in Salisbury and it hurts me to see what is happening to our "once beautiful" city. It's never going to get better until we get the current mayor and city council members replaced. personally I like Cohen, but the rest are seriously inept and clueless with no class.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think that our current mayor was so afraid that Mr. Joe would win the last election, and Mr. Joe SHOULD have won, that our mayor now, has totally lost whatever brains he may have had. It is very hard to say that I used to be happy to live in Salisbury, the CORRECT name, NOT the bury. I had to go to an office on the plaza last week. It was a short walk to my destination and as I walked, I remembered my childhood days of the plaza and wished that Mr.Joe had won the election and was able to follow his visions. The plaza was plain nasty looking and looks like nothing but a hangout for the homeless and people on bikes who will run you over so they can get to wherever they are going. We have bike lanes on city streets now but on the plaza, it's like a free for all. New version of the knock out games. Run over walkers with your bicycle!

  25. Should be called Rehobe-Bury now!

    Liberal Corupt and Gay...

    LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Its sad. Makes you proud to be here.Best thing to happen to Salisbury was building the bypass.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Don't you mean Rehomobury?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Salisbury is already buried!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. The mayor is going to "bury" Salisbury.

    ReplyDelete
  30. A true gem of prepubescent marketing.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Stupid. Getto trash talk. Makes me cringe.

    ReplyDelete
  32. If you lie about it, they will come. Jimmy learned that trick from his mentors, Barrie T. and Barry S.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Reminds me of a funeral or what a dog does with his bone.

    ReplyDelete
  34. ji has to get out of town and go to reb b del for early retirement where the guys thinke he is cute

    ReplyDelete
  35. The notion that 'BURY' is somehow an attempt to namebrand Salisbury is beyond me. I think the concept sounds TRASHY. Just like the RED LIGHT DISTRICT sounds like a Pimpville, the BURY sounds like a drug haven.

I believe the concept was done in poor taste in trying to promote Salisbury.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Bury the BS and it blooms, eliminate it to get rid of it. This said in light of the city that was sold by a tilghman and resold by an ireton. Neither of which deserve to be capitalized

    ReplyDelete
  37. I've been flying in and out of SBY for over 30 years now. I think SBY was created a long time before 10 years ago.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Sucks Childish very adolesent!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I've seen the circle sticker, but is that last thing for real, too?

    Is it?

No one but the people who come up with airport designations get to take credit for SBY. That is where it comes from.

    ReplyDelete
  40. How ridiculous!!! My question is-how much time, effort, and money was wasted with this campaign that was Ireton's so-called "brainchild"? How many people does he TRULY think are actually going to buy these t-shirts & bumper stickers of his!? What I see is a TON of time & taxpayer's money being flushed down the toilet...ONCE AGAIN.

Ireton needs to start eating a slice or 2 of Humble Pie on a daily basis and to get his priorities straight right NOW and to start utilizing time, effort, and money (Salisbury's taxpayers' money!) more productively by focusing on Salisbury's critical issues & NUMEROUS problems.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm not certain you guys know this but when my kids graduated and moved away they referred (and still do) to Salisbury as "Smallsbury" because of small town thinking and gossip. Every time I see the "bury" slang I immediately thing "Smallsbury"

    SO VERY SAD.

They really need a public relations person that knows what they are doing.

    ReplyDelete
  42. This is the 21st century. Get with it deadbeats. Your time has oome and gone. I suggest you leave Salisbury.
    Bury is good.

    ReplyDelete
  43. 8:42 - I assume you're being sarcastic but if I'm wrong...how is this a "super idea" as you claim?

    ReplyDelete
  44. If you are a come here.. and don't like it here. LEAVE!!! If you are a from here and don't like it here. You can LEAVE also!!!! Don't just slam our town and if all you can do is "sit back" and complain... LEAVE!!!! You all know who you are!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. uh-oh....the far left folks must have just gotten home from happy hour...

    ReplyDelete
  46. "Bury Blunder" sounds more like it

    ReplyDelete
  47. I miss Mayor Martin and Chief Dykes. None of this would happen on their watch.

What a shame what our country has turned into, Salisbury and Maryland is just that example of it. Ocean City is not much better, nor any of the small towns.

If you look into it, the entitlement programs are were these people come from. If you would cut ALL entitlement programs, most of the drug dealers and worthless people would just pick up move the the next state that had free stuff.

Bury, that is what we are doing to our nation because of progressive liberals like Ireton. He is a teacher, what opinions do you think he forces on our kids. Why do you think kids except all this crap. Because our education system for over twenty years has been full of Ireton's.

Wake up people, train the kids to be liberals, you get liberal voting. Give free stuff to people, you get liberal voting.

  48. I went downtown to get my haircut and enjoy a great cup of coffee and while I parked in the public parking lot I got to thinking that in no way would I do this again if I had to use the parking deck.
Even as it is, my wife who is also a small business owner here in Salisbury (but not downtown) will not risk venturing alone downtown due to crime. We have both considered obtaining a CCP but here in Maryland one risks the over reach of government into our personal lives. (That is a story for another day)
We moved here 25 years ago wanting to be part of a Salisbury revival. Now both our children have left Salisbury with no intention of returning to, in their words "Smallsbury".
Until the voters of "Bury" see the necessity of fiscal conservatism and bringing people into government who share this value, the "Bury" will continue in its struggle for identity and financial investments of those willing to risk starting a business here.

Joe, I appreciate your venture into the "Bury" since you had a mindset so much needed in order for change to occur. Unfortunately the "Good Old Boy" powers won out.
Until that changes Salisbury will continue as it is and look admiringly at other nearby towns who are succeeding in making their towns destinations for those living on and visiting the Eastern Shore.
For those that might remember the film "last Picture show"... Salisbury has and is heading that direction.
    Bury the the monicker "Bury".

    ReplyDelete
  49. Here's an idea for you Jim and Jake.

How about considering, instead of BURY you create, "21804" instead. THEN place Maryland underneath.

    Just Sayin, right Chuck.

  50. A massive waste of Tax Dollars!! I say Bury Jim Ireton and Chuck Cook.

  51. People like 8:47 & 9:49 serve as prime examples & “Poster Children” of part of Salisbury’s Ongoing & Escalating problems. Rather than denying there are DEFINITELY Numerous HUGE problems, they need to be realistic and to confront & combat the problems with solutions in order to fix them or else they will perpetually grow.

Also, YOU “from heres” with the prejudice mindset who CONSTANTLY whine & complain childishly about US “come heres” need to adjust your negative & toxic attitudes. Most of us are here to stay PERMANENTLY, so get over it and quit your infectious & unproductive whining and complaining. All you do is drag people down with your negativity. You accomplish nothing other than making matters even worse.

STOP resisting change. You’re fighting a losing battle. Change is INEVITABLE, so START embracing it. Rather than whining & complaining, think more positive & work with “us” of those who want to mop up this Sloppy Mess of a condition that Salisbury is in before it, God forbid, gets even SlOpPiEr!

  52. I'd like to see the Logo look something like this.

So move on in and make friends.
And take a nice walk downtown
    Lets work together.
If you want to shop come downtown.
See what we have to offer.
Buy local and support our town.
    Use our friendly free parking.
    Resolve to get involved.
You and us can make the changes.

Ok..so it spells Salisbury with the first letter of each sentence. I know it's corny but I want Salisbury back! It is NOT the bury!

    ReplyDelete
  53. He may as well change other towns names too. Will Pittsville be now called the Pitts? Wango called Wang? Hebron called He Bro?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I thought Salisbury already had a slogan, "The Crossroad of Delmarva". 'Bury is just childish slang to me.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Haters gonna' hate. Where were you whiners when Joe needed your votes?

    ReplyDelete
  56. EXACTLY JUST WHO WILL CLAIM THE IDEA OF "BURY"? I want to know who is thinking these things up. Although they will probably not want to claim the idea now.

  57. January 18, 2014 at 9:49 PM,
I was born and raised in this town until the pimps, prostitutes, criminal, dope fends and every other criminal corrupt political element I can think of finally gave me the strength to leave this area. I LEFT and thank goodness. I don't even care if I NEVER step foot on the eastern shore for the rest of my life. I am so happy living in the State of South Carolina. I left the stupid term "The bury" at the age of 57. This was the best thing I could have done for myself. I wished I had moved a lot sooner. There is political trouble coming you all way. I wish you all the best.

  58. 1:30 that is good.

  60. The whole oval sticker concept originated with folks visiting upscale places they liked to visit. Ground up rather than top down impetus.

Our area already has a 3 letter symbol recognized worldwide - it's the SBY designator for the airport.

These knuckleheads set out to reinvent the wheel and came up with a busy mishmash that won't roll.

Perhaps someone can take it to a beach in DE and 'bury it there!

    ReplyDelete
  61. they should have just put SBY on it. bury looks dumb. of course you have to look at whose idea it was..

  62. Gay, ghetto, childish. Who came up with this crap?

  66. The person who said "This is the 21st century. Get with it deadbeats. Your time has oome and gone. I suggest you leave Salisbury.
Bury is good." at least gives good advice. The best think I ever did was get my family out of Salisbury (Maryland, even), and I will not stop until everyone I care about is out of that dump.

  67. It fits just fine. The 'bury isn't a classy name, and our town isn't classy, either!
