ReplyDeleteWas dispatched as a structure fire, but it wasn't one. Could be handled by all volunteers. Doesn't justify over 60 paid firemen.
I always wonder how many of these calls for ambulance service are the same welfare cases just burdening the system. would be interesting to see someone run the numbers. I'm sure you'll find numerous repeat calls to the same addresses!
ReplyDelete12:10 your assessment is pretty accurate. You can tell that the majority of the calls are unnecessary and only require an appoint with your family physician and a transport in a personal vehicle. If the government was really interested in cutting costs they would investigate ambulance services with their outrageous charges. They would see how much insurance fraud, Medicaid fraud and Medicare fraud is taking place. Yes when you knowingly bill these insurance companies for unnecessary charges you are billing fraudulently. Insurance companies could save billions upon billions of dollars a year.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:28 The call was handled by one crew of paid firemen and three crews of volunteers. My group of volunteers didn't have any problem the paid guys or how the call was handled. The person had smoke in her apartment and we took care of it. Spend more time contributing and less time criticizing.
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:28 AKA Joe Albero. If its not then your just as bad for allowing such a ridiculous statement. Whether you like it or not the combination fire department of Salisbury is here to stay. Volunteers and Career firemen working together. The ISO, City charter and the fire Chief have determined it to be the best service.

ReplyDeleteI'd like to see what Mike Layne and Eric Kauffman have to say about on this issue.
ReplyDeleteanonymous 2:48, First of all, I do NOT comment anonymously, period. Secondly, an I to assume to think we should sit hare, (or should I say babysit) each and every comment the FIRE DEPARTMENT doesn't like to hear. Are you sure your not Jim Ireton?
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like Salisbury News, why the hell do you come here and even suggest I am hiding behind anonymous.

I don't remember the poster asking you personally if you had a problem with a paid crew of firemen handling a call. If you actually read the post it said there was no justification of 60 paid firemen. You proved the point exactly. The call was handled by 3 crews of volunteer firemen so there is no need for paid firemen. Boy you sure are dumb.
