A single-seat Navy F-18 jet crashed 45 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach, the U.S. Coast Guard confirms.
Spokesman Petty Officer David Weydert confirmed the pilot was rescued by a fishing vessel in the area. The pilot's condition is unknown at this time. PO Weydert said the USCGC ALBACORE was near the crash site, but the case will be handled by the Navy. A Navy helicopter has already responded to the scene.
